Based on what I’ve seen so far... Ferland Petey Boeser Beartschi Horvat Miller Pearson Sutter Goldobin Eriksson Beagle Virtanen Leivo Motte Roo (IR) Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Benn Stecher Biega Fantenberg (only because other Ds don’t need waivers.) Marky Demmer Just to start... but this lineup will change... and I do think we will lose one of Leivo, Goldy, or Motte via trade or waivers. Eriksson has shown he can play imo. He’s responsible, can play either wing, and anywhere in the lineup. Idk... I still see a 35-45 point player there that kills penalties effectively and plays on the right side of the puck. I understand fans want him gone, I do too, but imo he still currently has more on ice value than Motte, Leivo, Goldy, Gaud, and possibly Virtanen. If there’s an option to allow younger players to continue developing while Loui is still a better player, that’s exactly what we want to happen! I know most fans only see the more visible plays, but Loui is a solid veteran, which is important to have for any team with playoff aspirations. As for Goldy, I like him being the playmaker for Pearson and Sutter, who can both shoot. Sutter plays the right side of the puck, and Pearson can forecheck fairly effectively. Goldy gives this line some balance, but unsure if he can be consistent enough to hold this spot in the lineup. I think Gaudette will play well enough to make the team, but send him down. Play him a tonne, let him get his confidence going, and I’d guess on his next callup, he’ll be here to stay. ...Same with Brisebois. Really like this player. Tanev v2

I’d suggest that a lot of his value falls with physicality... which is pretty much non existent in the preseason.

Didn’t love Myers, didn’t hate him. Wish he used Hughes more. Myers tends to hold the puck too long imo. He did play more than any other player outside the goalies. Which means far more chance to make a mistake and considering it was the first game of the pre-season, I’m actually pretty pleased with his confidence. 6 blocks tonight too. Honestly not not overly impressed by anyone except Demko who I thought looked solid all night. Sucks that we got outplayed by an ahl team + nurse... Canucks look slow imo in all 3 games I’ve seen so far. But gotta shake off that rust... Opponents are looking slowish too.

Agreed. That was one of the smartest and patient plays I’ve ever seen him make.

Juolevi will be there too!

Happy for Jake.... But Talbot was dreadful. so happy that the Alberta teams traded problems!
-
Brock McGinn in this deal too

Hey all. NJ really needs to dump David Savard and his 4M. He is a decent producer. Best offer takes him.

Ryan Johnson with all kinds of praise for this kid. Feels like Ike he is a strong sleeper.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Goldobin, 1 year/900k

Idk if he makes the roster. Dont think green trusts him. Hoping he figures it out. He’ll probably ride shotgun with Petey if Brock isn’t signed. -
David Savard available. Trust worthy 3-4ppg. 4M cap hit thru 22. Can only take <2 in return cap. Hit me up!

[Signing] Canucks sign Oscar Fantenberg
70seven replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
You clearly haven’t met most chl players. Duchebaggery isn’t foreign to hockey players at all my friend. -
NJ looking to clear cap. Alex Goligoski available. 4.25 cap hit.
-
Dekeyser available for a Dman prospect
-
Brandon sutter for a 2nd would’ve been a better deal for them imo and lol. Hayes is a solid player though. He’ll help insulate Patrick, but still... horrible signing.
-
Wtf and lmao. I don’t understand this contract. Isnt he like a 2-3C?

This is all just posturing. Edler will stay in Van.

[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here
70seven replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Between trustworthy players (Ericsson) and physical players (lucic) of about the same value... I’d say Lucic is the better fit. Lucic could mesh well with Horvat and Pearson imo. -
[Speculation] Canucks all in for Jason Zucker
70seven replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I like Zucker a lot. Good speed. Tenacious. Can put up 60ish points. I’d guess something along the lines of Virtanen + Juolevi... but idk if I’d do that. -
Jake Gardiner gets a bad wrap because he’s in the Center of the universe and he had a meltdown under its microscope. He actually drives offence better than most of the leagues defensmen. Pair him with the right partner, and considering he skates FAR better than Myers, I’ll take Gardiner all day. Why you ask?? More effective on the PP scoring 33 points his Last 3 seasons compared to Myers 24, which came with 20ish fewer games played. Gardiner is a combined +52 at even strength over that period to Myers +31. Is Myers a better d without the puck? Maybe from a physical standpoint, although their hit totals are actually pretty similar, as are their shot totals, and a slight edge to Myers for shot block totals. Idk what the fancy stats say, but my guess is that Gardiners numbers are FAR better than Myers... but I’ll reserve judgment until I see them lol. So as far as the numbers indicate, the ability to skate with the current NHL, I fail to see why Myers would be a better target, outside being the natural RHD, and can play a more intimidating role... looks to me like Gardiner is clearly the better DMan. He’s simply better at more crucial skills, and ones this D core is crying for! I don’t care if he takes a spot from Juolevi or Hutton... or Edler for that matter. Get him done.
