  1. I have no doubt Hughes can play in the NHL BUT its lasting the whole season is the problem, thats why, as much I don't want to admit, he needs to go back to college and bulk up. I know its been said, can't hit what you can't catch in terms of Hughes skating, but can anybody name a D-man that hasn't gotten hit in an 82 game season? Exactly When Hughes circles around to get the puck, its gonna be Dustin Brown, Cory Perry, etc gunning for Hughes in the corners with a 170lb bullseye on his back. If you're that slight, and you get hit by 220lbs of NHL muscle, its going to hurt, whether its the first hit or the 1000th. Quinn needs to bulk up, like what Rathbone did. This is for his long term development, not just for the sake of dreaming of making to the playoffs the 1st year as an 18 year old
  2. LOL You kidding me? McCann is on the cusp of breaking out for the Panthers and is ahead of Virtanen in terms of development, plus we gave up a pick. Gudbranson has done F-all since hes been a Canuck. Big but doesnt hit, couldnt catch up to a pylon in a race, cant score, can't pass, oh and you sneeze at him, he gets injured
  3. Out of all the guys we drafted, this is Manukyan is the guy Im most intrigued by since hes such an unknown and a curiousity. If that guy even makes it to Utica and be an option as a call up, thats already a win for the organization
  4. I was expecting to for them to pick Glass and they picked Petersson. At first glance I was a bit upset but then I realized it was a good pick. The problem the Canucks have had is that we are always trying to pick the safest guy with somewhat a high floor, never going for that home run pick, the guy that has a bit of red flags but thats got superstar potential. That what it came down and I liked the pick afterwards. We aren't just settling for a guy thats a 2nd liner and we get a pat on the back, we are getting a guy in Elias Petterson that if all goes well, could be one of the top guys in the LEAGUE let alone a 1st liner. Hopefully it does happen
  5. It would take the RIGHT deal to trade Baertchi, but he is in a cross roads since a lot of players are gunning for his spot. If a Cale Clague from LA is offered (doubt it) or you have the right trading partner where theres a need for a supplementary scorer in exchange for a young D-man that can't make it because of a full roster, thats worth looking to.
  6. There was a time when Canuck fans were going bonkers on Jannik Hansen, or Alex Grenier coming up the ranks LOL. A guy is Jasek is climbing the depth charts, and we are luke warm, not because of what hes done so far which is great, its because SO many of our prospects are turning heads, its a guy like Jasek in the mid 2000's would light up our message boards. The Canucks are absolutely brimming with prospects, and im super excited on what the future is gonna look
  7. After watching Lucic play this season, Im perfectly fine have Eriksson here. At least Louie contributes in other ways, Lucic can barely keep up even on an Oilers PP
  8. I'd take Sautner over Gudbranson already. Gudbranson is just a warm body playing in he backend, and Sautner has offered more, only less than a quarter of what Gudbranson's salary is.
  9. You can't assume Gadjovich or Dahlen will be ready for the NHL next year, and Gaunce is pretty much done as a Canuck since Archie makes him expendable.
  10. I had Middestadt as my pick, who might turn out to be pretty good too.
  11. That might be the most impressive.stat from what you mentioned
  12. Don't tell that to Canucktravella. Dane Fox is supposed to be better than Drouin according to him LOL
  13. I love the competitveness. There was an article I think it was here, that he really wanted to show hes every bit as good as Pettersson in the development camp. Gotta love that kind of confidence
  14. For a fans prespective, yes Seattle probably wont have the same passionate fanbase but from a business standpoint, Seattle makes a LOT of sense. Im not sure if you've been to many Seattle sporting events, but I have, Huskies, Seahawks, Sounders, Seattle is an amazing sports town. Trust me, even if the Huskies are playing a joe blow team, there is an absolute buzz in the city. The arena is in a good location, and one the biggest equalizers for a luke warm fanbase is sponsorship revenue. Seattle is booming especially with the tech giants like amazon and microsoft there, and a lot of the tech sector moving up stream, there will be no shortage in sponsor revenue. As much as there wont be a rabid fanbase, money is all that matters in the end.
  15. Makes a lot of sense now why he retired so early. During his last season in Buffalo, he was getting burned in the reels for being lazy etc not back checking which must be the cause of that disease. Hodgson was one of the better 2 way players in junior and for him to all of a sudden be lazy in his last year in Buffalo, I found hard to belive, usually guys that are known to play hard, they get instilled that work ethic. Either way, Im sure hes doing great things in Nashville. Oh what could've been had he still been a Canuck
  16. Goldobin if he pans out, hes Alex Semin. If he doesnt, hes also Alex Semin
  17. Dipietro and Demko, the double Ds having a goalie controversy in 4 years just like Lu and Cory Schneider. I can't believe we were at one time blessed with that kind of goaltending
  18. Id rather have Goldy on the big club rather than Vanek and Ericsson. The team looked absolutely slow tonight just by sitting out Virtanen
  19. I know everyone is talking about Boeser leading the Canucks in goals this year, but something tells me Baertchi is gonna be a close 2nd. Im expecting a fantastic year from Sven. When Green is behind the bench, Baertchi tends to really really put up numbers. Coach knowing the player really well, and what situation to put him in.
  20. Don't tell that to Canucktravella. He said Fox is a lot better than Drouin LOL, let alone Kole Lind
  21. Im bullish about netflix growth potential, like you said theres more competition with you mentioned, not to mention smaller streaming services and kodi etc., I don't see it being worth the investment with such small returns. Amazon is pretty much a no brainer, with all the Alexa stuff and expanding services with the amazon pantry and they are expanding their reach to asia, but stocks are off the roof. If you have the money, go for Amazon. This thread is great! didn't think one existed in CDC, good to get ideas from fellow Canuck fans on where to stash their money. Im currently scouting a lot of silver companies since theres a bit of value from the prices Ive seen. A good friend of mine told me to watch for any stock that has something to do with marijuana
  22. Im a fan of Boucher's as well. I can see him getting, like you said, 15-20 goals if given the oppurtunity. Its kind of like what happened to Granlund where he was flying under the radar in the beginning of the season when nobody had expectations for him and quietly put up a pretty good season. The kid is a whiz in the offensive zone, defintely looked dangerous playing the half boards on the PP
  23. For me I thought that Hague had Dylan McIlrath, Jamie Olesiak written all over him, big man thats slow with a cannon of a shot, but with a slow lifespan in todays league. Was hoping for Timmins but Lind is a pretty damn good player.
  24. I really think theres more there with Boucher, if given a chance, I think he can make a Markus Granlund type of jump. A guy that really wasnt sure where he fit to being a mainstay in the lineup. The key is the Canucks really have to change the way they run their PP, knowing the fact they got legit shooters now rather than the pass it to death to get a perfect shot garbage theyve been doing
  25. Sedin Sedin Megna, to hell with Boeser
