  1. I get the sense that the Fire Green threads are approaching. It happens to all coaches eventually, but Green's lasted longer than most before facing the wrath of fans.

I do like Green as a coach but if Quenneville was interested in coming to Vancouver I'd sign him up in a heartbeat.  We had a shot at Gerard Gallant but chose to stick to the plan and promote Green, which I was fine with at the time even though I liked Gallant and he's doing fantastic in Vegas.  But we need some veteran leadership now to help these young guys along and I don't think at this point Green, being very Green (pardon the pun), is the long term answer.  Quenneville would give us instant credibility and a Stanley Cup champion resume.  I think he would get the most out of Petey, Brock, BO and Hughes.

@48MPHSlapShot I think your expectations with what is in front of us is too high.

We are only one season removed from the Sedins, so the team has to somehow replace them. Pettersson and some others have overachieved, while Boeser has played well. They still need the support from the bottom lines, which aren't doing that.

Our defense is young and makes plenty of mistakes. We can't outscore our mistakes, even though there are some nights that we can.

Regarding trades to the "Promise land" - what are you expecting? Do you think this team is merely a couple of trades away from a playoff spot?

It's going to take some time for a team to develop properly - and we are.

Firing Green and Benning during this time is and would be a HUGE mistake. The Oilers tried to "speed up" their rebuild and it has gotten them nowhere.

Look at the amount of coaches/GMs they have gone through. Then look at ours. We have to have some sort of stability, even if we're still at the bottom. We NEED to develop the team and re-shape it.
