  1. Should we have gotten Patrick? He would cost about 1/8 of Petey. Save all our cap troubles.
  2. There used to be a discussion period of 5 days before players signed, that's why there was signings 5 minutes after it opened. That was not this case this year, however. I hope Vegas gets charged. They have had way too many things handed to them freely since being in the league.
  3. Will Vegas ever have to actually pay for a player? I think they've actually only given up assets for about 4 of the players on their team. Everyone else they get to have for free.
  4. Johnson right now has negative value. You'd have to package him with a pick to move him. Why are we adding a 2nd in on this deal?
  5. Wondering how long we can blame this all on Covid for? Covid wouldn't have stopped us from signing Toffoli to this contract.
  6. Take the source as you want, but I was talking to my buddy tonight who's close friends with an NHLer. This player says that Virtanen is a wild child. Every time he gets paid, he spends that money, and puts on a ton of beer weight each summer (and has started to this year already). Further, he says that he doesn't take off-season training seriously and it's not shocking when he calls his trainer to cancel a session (can happen 4 times a week sometimes). I think the hope for him to mature is lost. Trade the kid.
  7. Ugh, would've loved Tkachuk. Hate playing against him, but he'd be SO good with Petey or Bo
  8. I personally like the Benning is playing OJ. He's shown faith in him this whole time.
  9. I really don't think we'll land Pietrangelo. I can't wait for 2 offseasons from now. SO much cap will be freed up right when we're cup competitive. Who the Avs are right now, we'll be in 2 years
  10. Crazy he was waived and never claimed. Ian Clarke made him the goalie he is today. Clarke should get 50% of that contract. Without him, Marky would be flipping burgers somewhere right now.
  11. Isn't this the guy who left the door open for Brock to get injured?
  12. https://www.cbc.ca/sports-content/hockey/opinion/2012/06/new-york-islanders-columbus-blue-jackets-draft-picks-trade.html#:~:text=By Elliotte Friedman&text=On the surface%2C the New,Nail Yakupov or Ryan Murray.
  13. a 5th!? That's it!? I feel like he's worth more. I remember when Garth snow offered #4 and every pick he had in the draft for this kid.
  14. I honestly feel so safe with goaltending with this guy. Markstrom started off as a throw in and project when he originally came here, and struggled until we got Clarke back.
  15. I think his early mistakes are coming to haunt us now. Now we're losing out on valuable assets (Markstrom, Toffoli, Tanev) for absolutely nothing, simply because he signed bottom 6 forwards to expensive deals (Sutter, Baertschi, Eriksson, Roussel, Beagle). It'll be exciting to be a Canucks fan the next couple seasons with cap freeing up, but it hurts to lose guys that could push us into the Playoffs. Hate to say it, but with the loss of Markstrom, Toffoli, and Tanev (unless something drastic happens), we aren't making the playoffs next year.
  16. Saw him go #30 in a couple mock drafts! Awesome.
  17. Comparing Lehner to Markstrom: Lehner Career: 317 GP, 2.68GAA, .917 SV% Jacob Markstrom: 284 GP, 2.81 GAA, .911 SV% Last year: Lehner: 34GP, 2.89 GAA, .920 SV% Markstrom: 43 GP, 2.75 GAA, .918 SV% 2019: Lehner: 43 GP, 2.13 GAA, .930 SV% Markstrom: 60 GP, 2.77 GAA, .912 SV% Their stats in the past couple years have been fairly similar, although Markstrom has been used more. Markstrom is also older. I'd give Marky around the same amount of money for a year less of term and call it a day. If he wants anything about 6, get out of there.
  18. Last year I was at a charity golf tournament in Kelowna and Justin Schultz was there. During dinner, I sat at the table beside him. The roast was pretty raw, and when I swallowed it, I started choking. I choked for a solid 45 seconds before someone gave me the heimlich maneuver and popped the food out. Justin Schultz just watched. I hope the rest of the league watches him walk into the AHL.
  19. I'm excited to see this guy play in the AHL. I still think he can be a stud for us one day.
