  1. If Tryamkin is a lock to return, then the Canucks will need to make room for him. Unfortunately, if he does return, it will be around the TDL.... the market will be very different then.
  2. At least in Japan the majority of their debt are domestically owned, thus all borrowing and interest maintenance stays within Japan. Plus they still have like a trillion dollar in US treasuries/bonds in their vaults. Whereas countries like US, a sizable portion of their debt are foreign owned (China and Japan owns like over 2 trillions worth alone), so all interest payments leave the US. The US does have one way to alleviate their debt repayments.... make the US dollar worth way less going forward. It will totally screw over the lower and middle class... but since rich will usually stay rich... it may not be improbable.
  3. You'd assume he would have taken an extra discount since he doesn't need to pay for any commission.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised. Economies always goes in cycles... like a recession every 10 years or so. Unfortunately, most politicians do will whatever within their powers to keep the party going... and that usually means higher ups and lower lows. The EU is probably slowly falling apart, Japan is still going into their Lost 3 Decades now, China's shadow debt levels is off the charts and too many government run companies sucking resources, the US with massive unfunded liabilities and minimal wiggle room with interest rates.... I'm starting to feel that guns and canned goods may be the next best investment out there.
  5. LE does seem to have better chemistry with Horvat than Horvat with Leivo. Both Horvat and LE's main strength lies with their defensive acumen. The better their defensive play, the better their offensive numbers are. Perhaps LE still being a decent defensive forward allows Horvat to play more aggressively.
  6. To get rid of a 1st year UFA rarely can be viewed as a positive. It's true that Jordie Benn isn't a prized UFA with a strong negotiating hand.... but it would probably make players hesitate a bit more when thinking about Vancouver as a destination.
  7. As expendable as Benn is... would be bad optics. A local boy coming back home to play for the Canucks.... gets traded within his first year on the team.
  8. But haven't you watched J-League games and/or at Koshien Stadium?
  9. Obligatory Dawson's Creek image...
  10. It should have been a lesson learned by all teams ever since Tampa won the cup in 04. They had like Lecavalier, St. Louis and Richards taking most of the cap of the team, thus leaving the team with no goalie and no defense. Funny how Edmonton still haven't learned that lesson. Hopefully GMJB will just tell EP, Hughes, etc... that being massively overpaid and winning championship are strongly inversely correlated.
  11. But yet Canada's clout in that part of the world is low.... Something doesn't quite add up.
  12. Went up YoY, but down about 5% this year.... so down about 100k. If only property taxes would decrease proportionally.
  13. Since Iran has owned up to it.... will they also own up financially? Could Canadians families impacted go and sue the Iranian regime?
  14. If you can't actually inflict damage to the US directly (at least without becoming a parking lot overnight), you do the next best thing, hit the weaker links. This move will get Canadians riled up against US foreign policies, which may potentially impact the US economically, politically, etc. It is definitely weird that they would shoot down plane flying from Iran. Either this is some calculated move or there may be someone in charge with trigger fingers or poor command structure.
  15. Feast or famine with the Canucks. Either they score a ton or get stonewalled. Either they shutdown the opposition or they are like Swiss cheese.
  16. Yet they immediately claimed it was "mechanical failure" even before the entire wreckage has been salvaged.
  17. Slavery has never really stopped. Just too many fingers are pointed at one group of people when there are dozens that are more complicit.
  18. We need a basis for comparison. As devastating as the fires are, it is within "normal parameters"? I mean, the world freaked out over the Amazon... yet the fires there were actually in-line with what has been going on for decades... just nobody really really cared to notice until it started trending online.
  19. If that's the case, they shouldn't go to Beijing either. China isn't any closer. If it's about "marketing", then they're just saying it's all about money, eg. "Larger, money-making Olympics" - Yes to NHL players. "Smaller Olympics with limited financial opportunities" - No to NHL players.
  20. LE is never a "bad" player. He's just overpaid for what his current abilities are. Plus he's also at an age where he isn't part of the Canucks future, thus his position in the lineup is usually vacated for players that are trying to establish themselves or to develop.
  21. I remember one of the excuses for not allowing NHL players to go to the previous Olympics was that South Korea was too far... yet it's not an issue now, lol.
  22. Send the 2nd unit out first. The 1st PP knowing they don't have as much time as before may create a greater sense of urgency.
  23. Stupidity isn't exclusive to any political affiliation.
  24. Wait... what are we even disagree about? Both the USSR and the USA supplied arms to the Middle East...
