Those might be the only movies/tv thing I can watch that stars a questionable person in it. That first scene with OJ on the boat is hands down one of the funniest slapstick scenes on film.

I really want to go back and rewatch The Cosby Show, but it really doesn’t feel right.

We watched it again, it still was good.

Considering how much crap was going on in Hollywood, and how many people were looking the other way, almost every show/film is probably tarnished in some way.

Very true. Everything from Brett Ratner and  Bryan Singer would also be considered “unwatchable” then.

Then again, X-Men 3: The Last Stand and Bohemian Rhapsody are both already unwatchable.

Inheritance

Just released a few days ago. Stars Lilly Collins and Simon Pegg. What is it with Simon Pegg just doing all these clunker, low budget movies until it’s time to star in another Mission Impossible film?

Anyway, the concept was interesting, but they dragged it out for nearly 2 hours. Easily could have a been an hour and 25 minutes. Clean up the script, get to the point sooner so you can develop Simon Pegg’s character and who he is quicker. Could have been a half decent movie. Instead, it’s a pass.

Hugh Jackman a candidate for Joel from The Last of Us. They look identical. If they ever made a movie or series on that game. The game is flawless. But most games to movies end up being flawed

Why not just use the actual actor who played him in the first game Ashton Mount (not sure I spelled his first name right - main actor in a railway show that was pretty good).  Used his voice in the first game and he’s a spitting image of himself in it too.   Looks like they used a different voice actor for the second game but he did a great job of getting his voice down...

What do you mean? Troy Baker is a voice actor who did Joel.

Arrival: 9/10

Should have won best picture in 2016 but lost  out on this and other awards due to Oscar-bait movies in Moonlight and La La Land. Extremely intricate way of looking at the process of communication and interpretation of signs/words.

I dunno if I'd give Arrival a 9, maybe an 8 but it was defintely better than Moonlight and LalaLand. I didn't enjoy Moonlight whatsoever. One of the best Oscar calibre movies Ive seen lately was Green Book. Defintely a great movie, very feel good, with a solid message. I still can't believe that kind of racism existed down south. Hidden Figures was a good one too

As a fun little activity (don’t think it qualifies as an activity actually), thought I’d write down my favourite movie series (must have at least 3 to be a contender). As I was going through all the movies to have at least 3 in them, I quickly realized just how many absolutely terrible franchises there are out there. Man, Hollywood will just milk things until there is no more integrity left in a film franchise.

The below ones listed below are, to me, the only ones that, for the most part, are great (even if they have one flop in series):

Lord of the Rings: Not including The Hobbit. That can f*** right off

The Dark Knight Trilogy

The Godfather: 3 is a turd, but it still makes the cut.

Indiana Jones: 4 is unwatchable. But 3 out of 4 is terrific. That is, until the make the 5th movie, and then I’ll have to revisit this.

Mission Impossible: There is 6 movies in this franchise, and really only 2 is laughably bad, but enjoyable in how bad it is. 3 is a bit of a clunker, but still fun. These movies do get better and better.

Harry Potter: As kids movies go, this is a solid series. As much as I find the final 2 movies, and the first movie to be pretty average, the rest make up for them, and then some.

Mad Max: Aside from the 1st movie, all are great. And really, the second movie is really start of the series. The first was much like my next series I’ll mention...

Evil Dead: Evil Dead 2 is essentially the first movie, just WAY better. Also felt the reboot back in 2013 was incredibly underrated.

John Wick: Number 3 was the weakest of the 3 so far (4 coming), but the movies are just so damn fun and ridiculous.

Dark knight trilogy, absolute classic especially, Im sure you guys agree, Dark Knight. If there was any reason to get a high end 4k tv and 4k blu ray player, that movie would be it, just GORGEOUS. On my Oled, The night hong kong IMAX scene where batman dives into the building, mesmerizing.

The last Indiana Jones was awful, the story was all over the place and the ending was crap. Loved Temple of Doom and Last Crusade.

Ive only seen a few of the MI movies, didn't enjoy the 1st one too much, Rogue Nation was good, and Fall out is probably one of the best in the series. My favorite, I dunno if much people would agree with me was MI:2, my gawd Thandie Newton looked incredible, her alone was worth watching the movie! She was practically braless the whole movie!

I excluded the Bond films, even though I enjoy a good portion of them, only because there are some that are downright terrible. And I actually don’t like the Daniel Craig ones (except Casino Royale).

The Rocky movies have 8 in the series (if you include Creed films), and I just didn’t like most of those, either.

Star Wars movies, as fun as the whole universe is, are mostly flawed. The prequels are baffling and the new trilogy is terrible. Rogue One is saved because of the last 3rd of the film, but I have a hard time rewatching it because the first 2/3rds is boring (to me). I really like Solo, though.

Thought about Hannibal Lector, movies. Silence of the Lambs is so good, it almost makes you forget about some of the terrible ones.

The first Mad Max really isn’t necessary to watch. But The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome are so much fun.

 I thought the same thing. I looked at the list and thought, “I’m stressed out just looking at how many there are.”

I did think about the Fast and the Furious franchise, because the 5th film really turned it all around. From what I’ve been told, anyway. I haven’t seen 2-4. But 5-8 are really a lot of fun. I also enjoyed Hobbs and Shaw.

I enjoyed pretty much all the Rocky films except maybe the 5th one. Its a bit sombering how he fell from top, but other than they had their entertainment value. I really thought though Creed 2 should've been MUCH better

As for the Fast and Furious series, try watching FF3. Tokyo Drift. Its almost its own stand alone movie, very underrated. Dont bother watching the 4th one, it was terrible, but I agree 5-8 are a lot of fun. They almost closed the series with the 4th FF but the inclusion of the Rock and the movie pivoting to a more heist storyline rather than the street racing (the street racing scene, import mod cars is dead) is what gave new life to the series. I loved the Hobbs and Shaw spinoff and I really hope the characters all intercept in the last Fast and Furious 10

Ok your right- for whatever reason I had this in my head for years (Anson Mount does look and sound almost identical to him in Hell on Wheels...)...think my wife told me it was him and I believed her ha ha.   Just checked yep - and she said she even “fact checked it” on the internet (which is close to a decade ago now)... watching the show at the time and playing the game it convinced me pretty fast.   I found articles saying he’d be a perfect fit for playing Joel from when the show was on and the game was out.   Looks a lot more like him and sounds a lot more like him then some other names I’ve seen floating around for HBO’s series ... Hughe Jackman would be the second best ... hard to take the wolverine out of that guy on screen.

ya, I'm familiar with the show and that could work also. But when I said most movies based on shows are flawed, most of them are actually crap. They are a quick cash grab with mostly unknown actors. Plus, this would be better as a TV series I believe

Personally I think the best movies that are made from famous books/video games  the casters need to  work really hard on finding great actors that aren’t mainstream (yet).   Then no stigma of previous characters come through. Jackman is a great actor and could pull off a mean Joel...but he’s too Wolverine - I think Anson Mount would absolutely kill it.  Lesser known - capable - almost identical voice (fooled me completely thought it was him) - very similar features and build etc. Joel isn’t that tall and built like a square - same with Mount.  Bearded they look more alike then any of the proposed guys for the HBO upcoming series.  I’d probably barf if they chose Negan from the walking Dead...he’s a great actor too - but was the wrong Negan despite doing a pretty good job (he’s also in the running).

Anyways I can say I learned something new (again) today - although trivial - I thank you for pointing it out.  Been waiting and waiting for a sequel for Last of Us and can’t wait to play it.   One of the best PS4 games ever made - (yes they made it for the PS3 too) and still haven’t found or played a game with better graphics (which pisses me off given it’s from what - 2011-2012?).   Played the game through 5-6 times at the “grounded” level which isn’t easy.

Resident Evil 4 and Last of Us are probably my two favourite games...the Resident Evil movies started great and just got worse.   Hopefully they can do the Last of Us justice - was an incredible game back then and still is to this day.

Edit:  Just imagine if Tom Selleck/Magnum P.I. wasn’t contractually obligated to the show and instead was Indiana Jones.  Harrison Ford wasn’t their first choice - Tom was.   Example of why mainstream actors despite the fact they’d do a good job ...oh heck he also did it in Star Wars as a set carpenter.  Ok he’s the extreme example but I think you know what I mean.

Joker 8/10

Joaquin Phoenix did an incredible job in this one, its worth watching just for that. Some pretty interesting commentary on how we treat mental illness and also some of the recent society movements we've seen lately.

I can see why comic purists would have hated it tho  its a massive departure from the typical comic anti-hero thing.

I hated it because it’s a weak commentary on mental illness, as a whole. Especially since nobody asked for a “mental illness” take on The Joker. In a comic universe, it’s pretty understood that villains are crazy, and having a “real life” commentary on it being a mental illness, especially done by one of the worst directors and screenwriters, who clearly doesn’t understand “mental illness”, made for a very surface level take. Which, was overall, quite embarrassing on that front.

The best part of the movie is that it begs for a sequel.  DC has pretty much sh!t the bed since Bales last Batman movie (seriously the next Batman sucks so so bad after that - and yes it all started with picking pancake face.).   Wonder Women is the only good thing they’ve managed but not because of the film as much as the empowerment.    Aqua man? Well I guess it’s ok. Still he was a better Conan even though that script was terrible.  Batman? Please get rid of him fast.  But apparently they have done it again by picking another terrible actor...Superman?  Not bad.  Not great but ok.  Reaves set a pretty high bar all those years ago, even though they should have stopped after 2.

Joker was one of the biggest letdown movies of the last 10 years. I'd give it a 6/10, max.
