ridehard1212
Shame, he could be signed cheaply (2M like Penner) and is capable of a break-out season which is more likely on a good team and new location. Plus he's very versatile, can play center, kill penalties and play anywhere in the lineup. Sedin - Sedin - Kassian Burrows - Kesler - Booth Hansen - Boyes - Higgins Jensen - Richardson - Santorelli Weise That is a very solid top-9. Our 3rd line is essentially a 2nd line on most NHL teams which means that we could sustain 3 injuries to our top-6 (as many teams do at some stage in the season) and be perfectly fine. This is when guys like Jensen, Gaunce etc. would play more.
ridehard1212
And every other time he's put up good numbers was a result of..? Other players are the only reason he's had success? For 1 million dollars Gillis would be dumb not to take him with the amount of cap we have.

ridehard1212
There may be some truth to this rumor after all. Mike Sullivan coached Boyes as head coach of the Bruins in 05/06 where Boyes had one of his most productive seasons (26G, 43A). Maybe there's something to that. If we could get Burrows type production out of Boyes for around a mil, then it would be well worth it. Not sure how good his two-way game is though. Suddenly that frees up Burrows and Kassian to play roles that they're much more suited to: Sedin Sedin Boyes Booth Kesler Kassian Higgins Schroeder Burrows Gaunce Richardson Hansen
VanGnome
Sedin Sedin Kassian Burrows Kesler Jensen Higgins Schroeder Boyes Booth Gaunce Hansen Now thats four lines that could roll, assuming Gaunce and Jensen are ready.. and i know people are going to think playing GAunce on the 4th is a waste.. But with that lineup above you could roll 4 lines that all can score and Defend!!
Franksedin
I'd rather wait and see if mueller isn't signed in a few weeks. He is young and talented, just too often injured. If he can stay healthy and can be had for a million he could be good with Hansen and Higgins.

Tre Mac
Sign him with what money? Unless you plan of shedding some capspace I don't see it happening.
ridehard1212
The salary cap called, just wanted to say Hai. In all seriousness, Gaunce, Shroeder, Jensen will tie up 2.5M in cap, and Tanev still needs to be re-signed plus to see the outcome of the Weise arbitration situation. Boyes will get at least 2.0-2.5 after his season last year (the only reason he signed so cheap is because he failed to perform up to his previous contract/teams had concerns over his knee issues. In my book, I see Boyes signing with a team with lots of cap room (perhaps a re-sign with the Islanders) for a 3.0-4.0M cap hit for 2 years. Canucks say thanks, but no thanks. puttjattandey
I agree to call him a future top 4 dman is a bit of a stretch, but would you trade a 20 year old Weber ? he was drafted 5th or 6th round. Would you trade Tanev since he was undrafted... Trading Corrado for 3rd / 4th liners makes no sense at all.
Me_
Hey if Tortorella will roll four lines like any successful Cup team, Boyes can be quite the acquisition. D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - KASSIAN BOOTH - KESLER - BOYES BURROWS - GAUNCE - HANSEN HIGGINS - RICHARDSON - BOYES That's some heavy power all throughout the lineup. All Richardson needs to do is pass to his linemates. But... so does Kesler.

Me_
Uh, playing defense in the NHL playoffs, straight out of junior, is more than most prospects can claim. And you are aware that most scouts and pundits see Corrado as a 3-4 defenseman, right? http://www.hockeysfu.../frank_corrado/

Bodee
Boyes has spent some time at center and some time on the wing. Last year, he played almost always on Tavares' wing. Just because he's labelled as a 'C' doesn't mean he's limited to that. If he can play both effectively, than that's a great situation, consider 1 center is more than likely to miss some games.
