CanuckRow
I love Corrado but I would take that deal and run.
aliboy
Kassian is a 13th overall pick from 4 years ago, he's not Byron Bitz. If we want our young players to have success, they need to be given opportunities to work through their struggles. The approach of making them earn their way up from the fourth line is no longer gonna work. Kassian was on fire in the month of January, but then went on a 3 game pointless streak and was demoted. That's not gonna do anything to help his confidence. He needs to be in the top 6 with good players if we want him to become the player he's capable of. This video doesn't even include his beauty shootout goal and his multiple fights.
DeNiro
And there's nothing worse than insisting a player is ready if they're not. He has to earn his place and we'll see how it goes. At least if we sign Boyes it gives us additional options.
THERETOOL
thanks Ek .. what would we do without you ? if I had a nickel ........
aliboy
And my point was that he was earning his spot with 5 goals in 6 games last season. Dropping him to the fourth line after that was the wrong message to be sending. Hopefully Tortorella will have more common sense than that next season. AV clearly had his favorites that he was gonna play no matter what. That's a hard system to preach accountability and motivate young players under. Drouin
I would trade Booth and put Horvat on the second line LW. Just my opinion though.
nowhereman
Any Islanders fan will tell you that Brad Boyes is terrible. His numbers are over-inflated from playing on JT's line. If Gillis makes a play for Boyes, I'd be left scratching my head.

Me_
Now we're takin. This is the kind of balance we need. With this lineup Kassian can be moved around a bit, depending on how he's playing, and the younger guys will still get in the lineup, when there are injuries, which takes some pressure off. Derp...
For the right price almost any player can be a good addition to a team. For the wrong price they can be an absolute nightmare. 2 year deal would be nice. That way if he has a good season, but wants more money we can trade him in the offseason or at the 2015 deadline. sign for 1.2, he has a 25 goal season, trade for a second and a B level prospect in 2015. Or he tanks and we waive him.
Ilya Mikheyev
And every other time he's put up good numbers was a result of..? Other players are the only reason he's had success? For 1 million dollars Gillis would be dumb not to take him with the amount of cap we have.
Bodee
If the Canucks are indeed going after him, its for Kesler insurance in the event Kes has another injury this season.
Drakrami
A future top 4 dman for a 3rd or 4th liner? Not interested.
DownUndaCanuck
Shame, he could be signed cheaply (2M like Penner) and is capable of a break-out season which is more likely on a good team and new location. Plus he's very versatile, can play center, kill penalties and play anywhere in the lineup. Sedin - Sedin - Kassian Burrows - Kesler - Booth Hansen - Boyes - Higgins Jensen - Richardson - Santorelli Weise That is a very solid top-9. Our 3rd line is essentially a 2nd line on most NHL teams which means that we could sustain 3 injuries to our top-6 (as many teams do at some stage in the season) and be perfectly fine. This is when guys like Jensen, Gaunce etc. would play more.
Ilya Mikheyev
This. Otherwise we don't need another centre...........I would rather have had Boyes than the 2 we have already taken. Why could MG not just have gone for this guy first?
