Ohnoeszz
The Vancouver Canuck fan base makes me question human existence on a daily basis. Does that answer this thread?
Riviera82
Same thing could be said about those Bruins, Rangers & Leafs fans. When the wait for Lord Stanley's Cup expands beyond 40 years...it's a very bi-polar existance for the long-suffering fans. Go Canucks Go!
BigRedMachine
Other fans think were stupid because we concoct conspiracy theories about Bettman and the refs to explain why our team hasn't won a Stanley Cup in 43 years.
TimberWolf
Bruins fans goon kids that wear other teams uniforms in Boston Chicago fans didn't know they had a team until they started winning again Toronto fans are deluded in self importance and think that every free agent is dying to play there Edmonton fans actually had slogans like "fall for the Hall" and "Fail for the Nail" to cheer tanking for picks etc etc All the above are stereotypes that other teams fans believe about those fan bases. Difference is that they don't care what anyone thinks. Worry too much about what other teams fans think and you just empower them.
TOMapleLaughs
Instead of worrying about what other team' fanbases think of us, why don't we discuss the faults with other teams' fanbases for once? Or are we too busy being self-defeatist crybabies to do that? You think Flyers, Bruins or Hawks fans give two craps about what other team's fanbases think of them, the classless, bandwagoning bums that they are? ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK! Kyosama
My favorite thing about everybody complaining about the Sharks being heavily favored is that the last time the Canucks and Sharks met in the playoffs the refs decided every single game, including the one game that the Sharks won, and there wasn't a word uttered about it on these boards. Because when it happens in favor of the Canucks, it's just hockey. When it's against, it's a conspiracy. Once again every team gets bad calls. It's no worse than it's ever been. There's just the internet now so we can scrutinize every play over and over again.

Aladeen
What does winning the Cup have to do with deserving it? If that was the case Boston would not have won in 2011, nor Carolina in 2006, nor TBL 2005, nor Dallas in 1999, nor NYR in 1994

TimberWolf
The NHL has the best officials in the world.
Benchsplinters
No, it's time for an audit. NFL has the best as far as I can tell. NHL is the worst of the top sports league as what is a penalty in one game may not be in another. The rules should never be open to interpretation from one official to the next. They should be the same no matter what teams are playing, what the score is or if it is a playoff game. That is not happening. When you see one ref "letting them play" while another calls a borderline hit in overtime, you have a problem. This here also disrupts your argument. If the refs can call against the Canucks because of a supposed reputation (that somehow the Sharks don't have with all their diving) then it is still corrupt. Call a penalty that is one, who you like is irrelevant. As you said, be a professional. Not that I believe the Nucks would have beat SJ. Our team was a mess, but the reffing was atrocious and embarrassing for the league as whole.
Benchsplinters
Yes but those 3 teams have won Stanley Cups before. I'm gonna veer off course here. Which possible real-life scenario would be more frustrating? To be an 80+ year old guy who only gets laid once every couple/few decades, but used to several times way back in the past? Or, to be a 43 year old virgin who's come painfully close only twice most recently and was just within striking distance the first time? At least the old guy has some fond memories to live off of. The 43 year old just gets to reminisce about how he almost got there a few times and how great it was to "get that far", but not quite close the deal. Maybe this isn't the best analogy, but my vote for the most frustrating goes to the 43 year old Canucks.
Canada Hockey Place
Bad fans are a part of hockey. Fans like to trash each other. Media loves to write about them. Any hockey movie mocks the insane fan. It's part of the hockey identity. Just like we all know not every soccer fan is a hooligan. But many people still have that impression. Kevin Weekes wrote about fan reaction he didn't experience first hand. He read about it somewhere. Then wrote about it. He is perpetuating a pattern of trashing Canuck fans based on extreme examples. Not the norm. But it gets received as the norm outside of Vancouver because it gets regurgitated so often. Vancouver fans have treated Luongo fine. He's more polarizing to fans simply because there are more fans are aware of him. There will be an extreme who love him and and an extreme who don't. Most Canuck fans only care if our goalie is playing well or not. They don't really care what the name on the back is. Which makes this whole thing really stupid. Because what they hell is being talked about here? The fact that some of the of the fan base in Vancouver dislike Luongo? How to change the minds of that 1% or what ever? Kevin Weekes wrote not to defend Luongo but to perpetuate the negative image of this city. Whether he did it intentionally or not, I don't know. 5Fivehole0
Most Canucks fans are great, but the only thing they can be guilty of is an excessive case of homerism. All fans are homers to a certain degree, but I find some Canucks fans take it to the extreme.
