funny when edler was heathy these loses were all his fault without edler its clear he wasn't alone. hamuis has no business going to sochi he's been terrible most nights and average the rest, garrison is shaping up to be another over payed disappointment from florida soft on the puck and misses the net more than bieska.(has the nhl moved the nets). too bad everybody's got ntc's . tanev, weber and corrado have made fewer mistakes than there grossly over payed counter parts.

Still not a fan of Edler but agree that Hammy in Sochi is a huge question. Him ahead of a two time cup winner in Seabrook...just don't see it! Garrison? 6th Dman at best. Way overpaid.

I don't know what's more painful; watching the team let these last few games slip away in the dying moments or reading the comments by fans that are jumping off the wagon.

Hopefully this is just a rough spot for the Nucks, or maybe the flu has gripped the team.

Most people have already realized that this is a 'gimme' year and not to expect too much. The cap hit along with prospects that aren't ready to step up has sealed this season, although there are still some positives. A lot of the players have improved their games and it looks like Kassian and Lack have solidified their places on the team.

I think next year and the following year we will see a greatly improved team.

To everyone that is writing of this team in the middle of January with a record of 23-13-9. You are the definition of a primadonna fan. Plan the parade when they win, write them off when they lose. Do you expect them to win every game? Go a full season of 82-0-0. Some loses hurt more than other and we’ve had two painful loses in a row. But if you truly think about it. PIT and ANA are what everyone believes are true cup contenders and we’ve had both of them down by a goal with less than 2 minutes left in play. I’ll take that as we can compete and have what it takes to beat the best teams in the league. Besides It’s best we get over this last minute break down garbage in regular season than compared to doing it in playoffs. On top of that, I truly believe having a player like Burrows on the ice with less than a minute left up by a goal greatly increase our chances of pulling out the victory. Everyone needs to step back take a breath and try not to overreact about a 1 goal loss where we were the better team.

Looking on the positive side of things...

Without Edler, Stanton, Burrows, and Luongo we took the top team in the West (Anaheim) and the top team in the East (Pittsburgh) to the brink and very easily could have beat them.

You guys can freak out all you want but we're right there with the big boys. The fact that we can compete with them when we're missing some really key pieces is pretty significant. When we're healthy we can definitely beat these teams.

IMO this team has a lot of potential. We are so close. With a couple of tweaks this team can compete for the Cup. We need to add a piece or two at the deadline and we have to get lucky (everyone who wins the Cup has luck on their side), but I think we have a legitimate shot at making a solid run for the Cup this year.

What exactly does it take to be a canucks fan?

Maybe a tad bit of patience instead of melting all over the board. Every team in the history of sports has had stretches like this, and no i'm as frustrated as the next person when you lose like this. Try trusting in the team and coatching staff to get it figured out, rather have it happening now instead of the stretch run to the playoffs. Screaming like little children because they don't like this toy and want a new one doesn't work in the real world.

Seems to me that this team has a case of PSCFD, That's post Stanley Cup Finals Defeat syndrome.

Once they get the lead, the pressure to keep it is so high they buckle.

Not sure what the therapy is, but I don't think it is time to throw out the talent just yet. If we don't make anything this year, then yes, time for dynamite.

so Sad.

A few points:

1. This team needs a face off man of Malhotra's calibre. I think most of the games they have lost in the last minute are due to losing possession of the puck right from the draw.

2. Not blaming the refs but if they had called 2 blatant Pittsburgh penalties in the last two minutes the game would have been over. NHL reffing is a joke, its the only pro league in the world where a penalty changes its definition depending on the team playing, the time of the infraction, and previous circumstances in the game. A penalty that is called in the first should be called in the third period too.

3. Kassian - if he can string together games like that he will be a force.

Why r u guys upset? We pummelled Cindy and the Penguins 5-2

5th goal came on a sestito deflection on the power play from jokinen cross-checking Hamhuis 3 times or maybe it was from Santo getting slashed and hooked with under 2 minutes to go?

Either way 5-2 canucks win. Crosby still can't get a point vs Canucks on home ice.

Pathetic officiating... This year has been a complete joke. Good on the boys for playing hard enough to stay in a playoff spot.

I feel a big difference in late goals is the FO ability of Malhotra. Since he left the number of late game goals against seems like they've increased.

If Henrik isn't taking faceoffs, that's a big disadvantage. Richardson is good but not as good in the FO dot as Malhotra was. Maybe VAN should think about picking up a D zone FO specialist?

A sports psychologist might help.

It is a well known fact that no team can beat the Canucks byt the ref team. I am just curious, what is the true Canucks record this year after yesterday's 5-2 win? Have we lost one yet?

I didn't even expect Canucks to be close in the Anaheim or Pittsburgh games, but they were......

I continue to be impressed by Torts that he doesn't just look at the 2 minute breakdowns- but the whole picture.

Too bad some of the so-called fans can't.

Torts himself said he has never seen a team lose in the manner the Nucks are. That last night's game was a "doozie"; Sullivan called this team "Very fragile". Too bad some fans only wear rose coloured glasses and are so quick to dismiss what the coaches themselves are very concerned about.

Torts is putting on a brave face and handling the situation as best as can be expected but he is VERY concerned about the play of this team.

If you look around the league every team is having scoring troubles. If you look at all the other clubs they are having power play troubles. If you look around the league there are few teams that can lock down the other team in the last 2 minutes. There is a process there and we are working to get better at it. Vote MGGM for re-election!!!!!

Cue bass solo!!!!!!
