SabreFan1
Is Torts copping out, or do you agree? http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=449330
hsedin33
Off topic, but just looked at some old former Canucks, Ohlund hasn't scored a single goal since he left the Canucks lol. And yes of course the core is ageing, we have known this since 2011.

TOMapleLaughs
We've been saying this since we lost in 2011. Window closing? etc. What did people think that meant?

Hasn't helped that he hasn't played a game in 3 years. And he did score a playoff goal in 2011.
JeremyCuddles
It's the truth. He already took all the blame for the season. We need to get younger. Gillis didn't have any young guys waiting to break into the line up and our older players didn't have the energy to compete. We are 2-3 years from legitiment playoff contenders unless Linden or our new GM can make an Erhoff type deal and get someone really good for scraps. Couple top 6 FA's are desperately needed too. Building from within is prefered though.
SabreFan1
We've been saying this since we lost in 2011. Window closing? etc. What did people think that meant? Not the point of the thread. When the coach says it after a season where he is arguably a good deal responsible for the team at least not making it into the first round, is it a cop out that he said it in public? If Torts indeed said that, he didn't exactly share anything Canucks fans don't already know. Call it a cop out if you want, but it's true.
Honky Cat
You know what's getting old...?..Tortorellas systems,....singling out individual players for criticism (on the bench an otherwise)...listening to him making apologies, for doing or saying something stupid ,and saying he's learned from it ...etc.. Brad Marchand
Not the point of the thread. When the coach says it after a season where he is arguably a good deal responsible for the team at least not making it into the first round, is it a cop out that he said it in public? He said that after putting blame on himself for not being able to push the team successfully. Anyone who watched the entire press conference would know that he wasn't singling out anyone for the catastrophe of this season except himself. What Torts says and Torts does as a coach are two different things, though, so take it for what it's worth.

timberz21
Yes and it's his fault. GMMG said he wanted to get younger. What does Torts do?- Doesn't even give Shinkaruk and Horvat 9 games. Not saying keep them for sure, but at least give them a shot.- Plays the "old players" 20-28 minutes per game, right from the get go.- Plays Kassian < 12 minutes per game until the season was virtually over.- Doesn't give Jensen a shot until the season is virtually over (even though he didn't deserve it really).- Sent Corrado down for basically the whole season.D'uh! Warhippy
:picard: The COACH does not decide who is on the roster. D'uh! The absolute stupidity of some peoples children.... Torts was the saviour and the end all be all until mid January. Do we have to bump some threads to prove that some of you were on his jock for about 3 or 4 full months out of the season? Torts would have been fine had he had some organizational depth and a few less severe injuries and maybe not had some career poor years for key players.
