Draft #6

Virtanen has an August birthday and has basically been as young as possible against older competition 210lbs as well. You'd like him to have a few more assists but, I'd dig him or Ritchie.

Tough call, would definitely trade up with NYI

Nobody in the draft this year is worth trading up for. If someone wants our number 6 depending on who it is they should deal it off for their number one next year. If it's someone like Pittsburg that wants it then their number 1 pick next year +prospect or something tangible.

We can keep the rest of the picks and get depth guys but if were going to shoot for the moon we should do it next year. Trade some guys and our pick for picks next year, finish the selloff at the trade deadline near end of next season.

Our new GM could make a splash on draft day.

Kesler to Pitts for Pouliot + their 1st which is in the late 20s

Edler + Schroeder to Anaheim for Ottawa's 10th

Use our 6th overall + Tanev to Edmonton for their 3rd overall.

What do you guys think about Kesler+Hansen+5th Round for 1st overall+3rd Round so we have 1st and 6th

then take:

1st-Aaron Ekblad

And then if anyone from 2-5 falls take them or take:

6th-Nick Ritchie

Thoughts?

Kesler will retrieve much more than that I would hope. If not hold onto him. We need some players for next year.

Would never happen. Hansen is nothing. A 5th-round pick is nothing. Kesler for a 1st overall? Not in a million years.

In good news we would be in the run for the McDavid sweepstakes if we did that.

And being young even if we are blowing up the team we should probably keep Tanev.

Stay away from Tanev. I don't want the foul hands of the Edmonton organization to even go close to him

I would do Kesler + anything for Hampus Lindholm and their 10th. Although, there isn't much of a chance Anaheim gives us Lindholm

This would definitely fill our "cupboard" with good potential prospects.

Just be glad the Canucks didn't pick 7th.

The Canucks have drafted 7th three times in their history.

Rick Lanz

Dale Woodley

Alek Stojanov

Lets just say those players didn't become stars.

We have also drafted 5th once (Rick Vaive who played 47 games with the Canucks), and we have drafted 8th once (Jason Herter played 1 NHL game).

The Canucks have never drafted 6th overall in their history.

Could anyone elaborate on Ritchie speed. I've heard he's fast for a big guy but how fast is he compared to your average nhler? Can he keep up in the Nhl? Is he fast off the line or does it take him a while to get up to speed. I'm almost worried about him being too big for his age.

thanks
