Hansen

Hansen is one of the best 3rd liners we've had in year.

He is NOT a top 6 forward tho.

His defensive game is great. His speed is exactly what this team needs.

The reason he is always getting slammed by half wit fans, is because the team uses him incorrectly sometimes.

They have a lot of trust in him as a player, so he gets a lot of opportunities to get moved up.

Unfortunately, he proves time and time again that he just can't put the puck in the net.

Keep him on the 3rd, he is a fan favorite.

Put him top 6, people say it's time to trade him.

My point exactly drummerboy, keep him out of the top 6. Its painful to watch him there. He is no more than a 3rd or 4th liner that can eat up minutes. When your 1st or 2nd line is on, you are trying to score, don't put a plug there, give a kid with hands a chance!

I also think part of the problem lies in that he is a practice all star. I remember hearing that Luongo used to say that during practice, Hansen looked like an all star scoring forward. So he must look great to the coaches but when he gets into the role, he never delivers. I have no proof though so take it for what it's worth.

I don't want to get rid of him, I just don't want to see him in a featured scoring role where he doesn't do the things that make him such an effective checking forward.

I will never understand what this fan-base see in hansen

2013-2014- 20 pts -9 71gp

2014-2015- already hes at -5 4pts 16gp

his numbers have started to decline since 2011. If any team needs a checker please trade this guy because he can be easily be replaced by a guy like dafizio, archibald, cal o reilly, gaunce(can play wing)

also he will be making 2.5 next year(thanks gillis) and will be making 3.0 mill soon, lol he is making more then nick bonino

dafizio, and archibald aren't even in the same league as Hansen, they could only get 10 points a season max and capable of only playing 6-8 mins a game. Cal O'reilly is a career ahl'er he has less skill, defensive ability, speed, and grit than hansen.

Gaunce isn't NHL ready player yet and they shouldn't rush him or else he will end up as a bust.

I don't see what you see in those plugs like dafizio, archibald and Cal O'reilly.

PS he is making 1.5 mill this year not 2.5

He has experience and that is what the younger ahl guys doesn't have. He knows how NHL players plays the game and that's why he's playing good defensively. I believe defensive guys are always the smarter ones just like two ways. Knowing what to do without the puck.

if he is so good defensively why is he minus 5 with pp time and offensive opportunitys eg playing top 6 minutes?

He's fast and he kills penalties; not fair to criticize him for not being good on the offensive when that's not his MO.

I disagree .. it IS fair to criticize him if he is put in a top-6 role and fails to perform to that standard .. he is an ideal 4th liner/PK specialist .. 3rd line with injuries .. any higher and he takes away more offensive opportunities than he helps create .. 5 Sedin passes and then a perfect pass onto Hansen's stick .. and .. he deftly tucks it into the corner .. of the rink! :)

lol supporting guys who aren't good enough to be in the NHL. I don't see what you see in those plugs there is a reason why they all passed through waivers and that's because they aren't really that good.

I guess we probably will not agree on this

Need to change that. But why do the coaches keep putting him in the 1st line. I don't see Vrbata having those rushes as many as Hansen had had in a game. Vrbata with the Sedins are being shut down in even strength by great teams also because of their play. That 1st line with Hansen made quality chances only Hansen could not put the puck in. And also the Sedins are forced to play less a perimeter because they know Hansen is not that kind of guy and changed their play a bit.

... But why do the coaches keep putting him in the 1st line.

I've been curious about why he's on the 1st line in Vrbata's absence as well. It strikes me that perhaps the best two passers on the team are playing with a defensive forward with little finishing ability. Offensively, Jensen would have seemed a better fit, given WD's apparent decision to keep the 2nd line intact for now.

Do the twins need a speedy defensive player on the RW?

I'm not a Hansen hater at all and like what he brings to a 3rd or 4th line, but am having trouble understanding the lineup. I have enough respect for WD to assume that he's got reasons. Can someone tell me what I'm missing?

Thanks.

He creates opportunity through speed. No, he's not the best scorer, but if he can create rebounds, Daniel and Henrik are both capable of finishing!

I think Hansen's been given a top line role because he knows how the twins play and has had some experience with them in the past. Even though he doesn't score he can definitely help the Sedin's sustain pressure in the offensive zone, although this isn't as valuable as scoring it's still something that helps the team.
