avelanch
Tom Sestito Out for the Season By Mark Caswell Jr. Updated: February 23, 2015 The Vancouver Canucks and Utica Comets jointly announced today that forward Tom Sestito will not play for either club for the remainder of this season. Sestito will workout on his own and will continue to receive his salary while the Canucks work to identify a new club where he can continue his career. The Canucks and Comets thank Tom for his contributions and wish him luck in the future. http://www.uticacomets.com/tom-sestito-out-for-the-season/ If I'm being perfectly honest, Tom's had a fairly bad attitute and his play certainly didn't warrant him playing more, he took the demotion like an insult and had a bad attitude in utica. he can't cut it in either league, too slow, he's part of a dying breed of hockey player, and there just isn't room for him anymore. I'd be surprised if the team were to find a suitor willing to take him, to be honest.

Kaner
I loved Tostitos. Sad, sad day here on CDC. It's really heart crushin to see one of the finest let go.
Goat James
Pretty classy move by the Canucks. I liked Tommy a lot, there just wasn't room for him on the roster with Horvat and Dorsett both playing really well... Best of luck to Tom.
Mackcanuck
Would this open up one of our max. 50 roster spots? With the addition of McMillan, I think we have 48, going into the trade deadline, it could handcuff us.
goalie13
Would this open up one of our max. 50 roster spots? Not until he gets traded. He's still under contract. He's just getting paid to not play.
wallstreetamigo
Paying to keephisbad attitude away from our prospects I guess. I understand his frustration but honestly he was told to change the way he played and didnt want to do it.
TheCammer
It's about time. Never understood why he was resigned. Wasn't a good fighter and wasn't good enough for an energy line.
Mimerez
Can I get paid a salary like Tom's without having to play any NHL games?
avelanch
yeah, he's still under contract and getting paid to do nothing right now. he wont open up a contract spot until his contract expires at the end of the season
Mathew Barzal
Wow. How often does this happen in the league?
wallstreetamigo
This is why you dont give totally replaceable spare parts especially goon types more than one year contracts.
TheMohammadman
Edit: Even though I didn't/don't like him.
3KBieksa
yup he is a joke... i always feel like the if u r under contract u have the obligation to actually play the game even tho u r send down... u still a hockey player.... not some 5 years old what would happen if richards pull the same move? Maybe his agent can find him a deal in the KHL or somewhere in Europe, but even that would be a stretch. Sorry Tom, but you're a part of a dying breed in the NHL. Good luck in your future endeavors.. TACIC
Maybe for one of the slower teams in the A? Or in the ECHL? or in Europe?
etsen3
Any details on his poor attitude? Haven't been following him since he was sent down.
SabreFan1
Send him to Buffalo. If the Sabres still wanted or needed a goon, they would have kept John Scott and/or Zenon Konopka.
Primal Optimist
I really don't know what is up with this move, but clearly Tom was not fitting in with Utica. At least he got his taste of the best league in the world. Good luck in the future.
