Arizona may soon heat up in talks for contention of the McDavid sweepstakes.

In Europe the demote the bottom teams, we reward them. Leagues in North America are run on socialist model.

In Europe they also have 4 teams dominate the league every year and the rest only exist to provide fodder for them.

They need to change the draft system. Teams should be fighting for a top pick, not trying to lose for one. I think they should flip the lottery to a degree. The bubble teams that barely don't make it should be the ones that get a slightly higher chance at winning the lottery. That way, people are fighting for a playoff spot, and if they miss, they get rewarded for fighting hard until the end instead of tanking. I think they should flip it, and the lotto should be for the top 3 picks.

The top 16 teams make the playoffs. The bottom 14 are ranked the way they are now. However, when it comes to the percent chance, you flip it. That way teams won't really have a reason to purposely tank. Teams that suck like the Edmontons and the Buffalos of the world, don't get to tank and get a top 3 pick, (most likely) but they still get a 4th or a 5th. That should be good enough to reinsert some talent into your lineup.

Maybe get a little mini series with all the teams that are outliers (not close to condensing for a spot) and who ever wins, gets the first pick.

I don't even know who on buffalo is remotely decent. They have it locked up

They had the best chance, but lost the lottery last year

Could easily happen again this year

They should just make the bottom 14 play best of 3 series' to win the highest picks.

14 vs 1, 13 vs 2, etc.

It de-incentives pure suckage and sell-offs.

Somebody let Gary know he can tell his "shareholders" that they can get another dozen games revenue for each of them.

Cause hey, that's gotta be at least a couple hundred bucks a game for Arizona and Florida!

This is honestly a pretty good suggestion, the draft lottery has hardly made a difference. Its such a disgrace to see teams shamelessly unloading their team in an attempt to finish last.

I ll be happy if that means no cups or teams in Florida , California and other sun belt areas

So you'd be happier cheering for one of Toronto, Montreal, New York and Chicago every year over a more even and competitive season/playoffs where some teams happen to play where it's warm?

So u think Vancouver, Boston, Calgary, etc will not get kids to play for them if league was built in a way that anyone could sign upcoming top prospects.

Is this a news forum though elvis? I don't really see what's wrong with the post,

The OP made a case that he thinks the Yotes are most likely to win the tank race. Fair enough for a discussion forum, no?

Maybe I should clarify that my question is about if it's new news. And it's not really new, since Arizona has been bad all year. The OP admitted that himself:

It's not necessarily news, Arizona has been god awful most of the year...

I think I labeled the title a little off from what my actual argument was. The title is kinda misleading in the sense that, yes.. they have been in talks for the contention of the 30th overall spot in the standings. However the argument made in the post was that they would likely soon be considered favourites in regards to winning "the biggest loser" title, by sprinting down Tank Alley the fastest. Since Edmonton or Buffalo have been the biggest favourites through most of the season thus far.

Sorry for the confusion.
