Crabcakes
I liked Corrado but did he think he had a roster spot in the bag? I heard on the radio that he bought a residence last summer in Vancouver. The fact of the matter is that when Linden and Benning began building a team with internal competition, things like this were bound to happen. Players who aren't hungry and who don't stay hungry get passed on the depth chart. This is a good thing because only those with the best character survive. luckylager
Like Edler with Ehrhoff, I think Sbisa playing with Hutton the coaches will have Sbisa simplify. Let Hutton be the dynamic guy making pinches and roving and Sbisa can sit back, play a smart and simple game and occasionally drifting in to soft spots for offensive chances but largely backing up Hutton.Hadn't thought of it in that way, you make a solid point there, "real good" in fact. I hope Sbisa can embrace that role and be effective

bernzie71
Glad to see changes in the organization 3 rookies and 2 prospects ( playing 100 NHL games or less ) making it interesting for management. Now iam not always fond of JB moves but he knows how to run a business . The trades the signings. cleaning up the mess left by the previous regime although the previous regime left a few gems for JB and co. Let the fun begin good luck Jim and trev Your humble fan bernzie
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
Like Edler with Ehrhoff, I think Sbisa playing with Hutton the coaches will have Sbisa simplify. Let Hutton be the dynamic guy making pinches and roving and Sbisa can sit back, play a smart and simple game and occasionally drifting in to soft spots for offensive chances but largely backing up Hutton.Yeah, there're actually a lot of similarities between Edler and Sbisa, in terms of what partners and roles work best (beyond the fact that they were both awful with Bieksa ). A simplified role where they can defer puck handling duties and play more of a supportive role through transition is the sweet spot for those guys. We saw it with Edler-Ehrhoff and we've actually seen it again with the ways Tanev has been coached to partner with Edler (and how Tanev has become much more active carrying the puck since partnering with Edler). It's not a coincidence that Sbisa put-up his best career stats partnered with Lubomir Visnovsky (who was very Ehrhoff-like in terms of his offensive instincts, skating, transition play, puck rushing ability, meandering nature in the offensive zone, controlled entries, wanting the puck on his stick, and just his general tendency to try to skate the puck up ice on his own). And like Edler, Sbisa falters when paired with stay-at-home guys with poor mobility and lacking puck skills, as this forces him to be the primary puck mover and requires him to make too many decisions with the puck. Hopefully Hutton will be the salve to Sbisa's weaknesses, and they can form a pairing that brings out the best in each other and plays to each of their strengths. We saw a bit of this happening during preseason. It would truly be something if their chemistry only built from here on out. They might very well become a good young 2nd pairing (with Hutton actually helping Sbisa realize the top-4 potential Benning originally saw in him). EDIT: Stupid mobile autocorrect (changes "puck" to "pick"). Grr.
Frazzy Desjardins
Tanev free agent and Hutton 5th rd pick look like absolute theft by Gillis. All in all Gillis was at the helm during our best years and there was ups and downs and an ultimate firing but he definitely left a positive mark on this team and is a large part of our bright future. tyhee
We need to stop trading our second and third rounders, and start drafting Dmen. ... They drafted 3 d-men this summer.
