Ichiban604
If we had to pick a D for the up coming draft, which defense prospect you guys think we will draft. Consider the draft position we will be picking in and the best overall fit to our team. Jakob Chychrun's Player Profile Sportsnet Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Nov. 18th): "Has a great stick and is always in the right spot to deflects a lot of passes. Scouts want to know about the health of his shoulders."Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Oct. 14th): "Has recovered from off-season shoulder surgery. Is a physically dominant player with offensive talent." ISS Hockey ISS Hockey - Twitter (Nov. 6th): "What more to say about this elite d-man. Plays 200ft, can skate, & jumps into play."ISS Hockey - Twitter (Oct. 9th): "Franchise D who excels on both sides of puck. Pro level puck movement & composure." The Hockey News Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News (Oct. 30th): "The big blueliner has it all. He skates well, plays in all situations and has a nice edge to his game." Olli Juolevi's Player Profile The 6'2" Finnish defender was arguably the best defender at the 2016 WJC and displayed why he should be a Top 10 pick in this year's Draft. He can literally do everything right on the ice. He can advance the puck up the ice from behind his net, can quarterback a power play, and make crucial defensive plays. What scouts love most about Juolevi is his decision-making, which is among the best in this draft class. His skating ability, which is smooth and flawless. An all-around defender who could be a top-pairing defender with an offensive partner.Submitted by Spencer Seymour - Jan . 19th Sportsnet Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Nov. 18th): "Having a very solid start to his first CHL season with 13 points in 18 games. Is seen as similar to Knights alum Olli Maatta."Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Oct. 14th): "The Olli Maatta clone was named the top D-man among Finland under-20s." ISS Hockey ISS Hockey - Twitter (Nov. 18th): "Poised rear guard who plays strong defensively & makes smart decisions with the puck."ISS Hockey - Twitter (Oct. 21st): "Poised d-man excellent puck-carrier w/ good passing skills. Will only get better." Mikhail Sergachyov's Player Profile Sportsnet Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Nov. 18th): "Plays defence like he's "sitting in a rocking chair" and has surged in the rankings over the past month. Was the sixth pick of this year's CHL import draft." ISS Hockey ISS Hockey - Twitter (Nov. 16th): "Top-pairing defenceman. Workhorse that can be used in all situations, that has confidence."ISS Hockey - Twitter (Oct. 19th): "Made a seamless transition to North America. Can contribute at both ends of the ice." Jake Bean's Player Profile Sportsnet Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Nov. 18th): "He was never drafted into major junior, but he's rapidly ascending the NHL rankings and really impressed in the Canada Russia Series."Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Oct. 14th): "His father is CFO of NHL Flames. Bean forms dangerous power-play tandem with Flyers 2014 first-rounder Travis Sanheim."

Sedintwinpowersactivate
I think the Russian has the most offensive potential of the group. Chychrun think Zack Bogosian Juolevi think Ollie Matta Sergagchyov think Andre Markov Bean could be Mike Green but could also be ex canuck Adrian Plasvic

Then he will get one of the lower ranked D (the smaller stature D guys) in the second and third rounds. There is that Girard kid and the kid from one of those WHL teams. I forget his name. They are both smaller, but really drive the play - Duncan Keith like.
hammertime
Personally if we end up with somewhere around 5th pick I'd try to convince Carolina who Just traded Staal to give us their 1st and LAs first to move up to our spot, and gamble that Sergachyov or Juolevi are availabe in Carolinas spot if not BPA (Dubois, Logan Brown) would be great additions too. Then with LAs pic grab one of Bean, Fabbro if available or BPA (Tage Thompson, Stanley, Bastian.) If we manage to pull this off Ill be ecstatic. I'd be totally fine with drafting him AND Chychrun if we can get another mid to late first round pick. I wish one of them was a right hand shot though.
