[proposal] Baer

Recommended Posts

Seems like there's hope for the future with some potential top line guys in the system but we have too many guys that seem like they will top out in the middle 6, not many bonafide top liners.

Would it be unrealistic to think we could package baer with one of our d men for a guy with higher end potential in the same age bracket as Sven (21-25).

possible package:

tanev + baer

for: Max Domi or Sam reinhart.

would Baer be best utilized as part of a package deal for a forward (W or C) that has a higher potential. To make a deal happen, I think if a 2nd was added a deal could be close for a higher end player (landeskog?)

who would those players be that we could target?

I like it, but some may argue that Baertschi is just starting to develop into a top 6 player and he may still do some great things.

Tanev + Baertschi for Landeskog. (and assuming Sbisa is picked up by Vegas)

Landeskog - Horvat - Boeser

Daniel - Henrik - Granlund

Goldobin - Sutter - Eriksson

Boucher - Gaunce - Virtanen

Dorsett

Edler - Stecher

Hutton - Gudbranson

Juolevi - Tryamkin

McEneny - Subban

 *surprised to see that Landeskog only amassed 33 points in the 72 games he played this year. Is he really worth as much as people think? His NHL stats don't impress me.

I think it's more a side effect of playing on one of the worst teams in the league, other than 2013-14 when they massively over-achieved. If Landeskog was on a better team, his stats would reflect that.

I'd honestly rather keep Baertschi for now. He'll be 25 next season, has great chemistry with Bo and looks like he can be a legit 2nd line winger. Barring injuries I don't think it's unreasonable for him to put up 20 goals next season at all.

There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

But for the proposal, you'd have to look for teams with a want to trade for players like Tanev and Baertschi. Buffalo isn't one of those. Neither is Colorado unless they move Barrie. The Coyotes could be one, but probably not for Domi. To pry a top young player from a team you'll likely end up overpaying.

That kind of deal could probably actually work, depending on the team on the receiving end of our players, but I'm in the camp that would like to see if the Baer, Bo, and Boeser line can turn out to be a good one.

Yeah....trade away one of the bright points of the team for players who have stagnated over the last two seasons. Good call OP.

Domi and Reinhart have only been in the NHL full time for 2 seasons.  Not enough of a sample size to say they are stagnant.  In fact, both players' point production (ppg) slightly improved in 16-17, when all too many players for whatever reason have a drop in their second years.

That said.  The proposal makes no sense for the Sabres.

I've had a few beers.  But explain it to me please.

Of those ten types, the first two are ones that do and don't understand.  You must have to understand code to qualify the other 8?

Binary uses patterns of 1s and 0s to represent values. In binary:

0=0

1=1

10=2

11=3

100=4

101=5

110=6

111=7

1000=8

1001=9

1010=10

etc.

So '10' represents the number 2 in binary language. There are only 'two' types of people...

To make a deal happen, I think if a 2nd was added a deal could be close for a higher end player (landeskog?)

who would those players be that we could target?

tough call I think baer is just starting to up his game and think his ceiling is pretty darn high. Also, we only have 2 natural left wingers. Baer and Dank Sure some can play off wing Jake especially with his shot and quick release.Plus Baer is a really good playmaker. I f we Have a line next year of Bo Baer and goldy or Jake his playmaking would come in handy as his vision along with Goldy I think could set them both up for 25- 30 goals. Plus lots of assists.

Btw I hope we get Dahlen over here next year. He is a natural right winger and we have a bit of a glut, there but that guy has some sick skills. If you haven't yet watched his highlight pack watch it

He put up 18 in 69 so I think 25-30 depending who is on hi wing, is entirely possible. Someone like Goldy who has elite vision could be a good fit. Man, that line would be a fun one to watch.I don't think the Canucks should trade anyone of the forwards except Sutter And only if we get the 1st or 2nd pick and they prove they deserve to stay IMO that makes Sutter expendable. I don't want to tank but I also tjink we should trade Tanev now while he is at his peak. Same with Edler it is time to move on Plus I really want another top 8 pick so we can snag timothy Lindgren
