I agree that we could and should do this.

Does Myers have a NMC?  If he doesn’t then 100% we expose him to protect our youth.  Seattle will not touch Myers, so we better not waste a protection spot on him.  (I think he’s a guy we need though)

So much mis-information in this thread,

Cap friendly has the contracts, NMC is NMC and have to be protected. Edler's contract is not up before the expansion draft, the season might be but his contract is in force until after the draft.

Tryamkin is does not have to be exposed, not enough games played,

Canucks have to expose a goalie, Demko and ? if Markstrom is protected they cannot protect him even if he is hurt. Demko will be the superior goalie exposed, the future.and show he has confidence in his rebuild be allowing Demko to take the reigns

Even if Ferland is injured his roster spot has to be protected, it is he cannot be exposed if he is injured, the contract must be.

Games must be NHL not AHL -

played in 40 or more NHL games the prior season OR played in 70 or more NHL games in the prior two seasons.

Are you sure about Tryamkin?  I suppose it depends on the definition of pro games played ... they count AHL games - which would include Brisbois, Lind, OJ and others ... if he gets a contract (Tryamkin)...is he truly exempt?

Yes, by you.

None of Edler, Myers or Eriksson require protection. Edler will be a pending UFA and the other two contracts become NTC's. Look at their contract details on capfriendly.

Tryamkin is not eligible right now. The second he plays a shift in the AHL or NHL next year, he becomes eligible.

AHL games count too.  So not sure where your getting this - maybe NBC? Ha ha.  Also Seattle can't pick a guy who's has a career threatening injury - pretty sure Ferland might qualify by then - won't need to be exposed or protected in that case.

What your quote is referring to is each team must expose a MINIMUM of two forwards and one defenseman that have played that many NHL games - this is to prevent them from leaving mostly AHLers unprotected.   Although not many teams would be so bad they'd have to that maybe Detroit ha ha.

1) This is incorrect. The Seattle expansion will follow the same rules as the Vegas expansion. Players with NMCs that expire on July 1st immediately following the expansion draft are not subject to the manditory protection that other NMCs have:

https://thehockeywriters.com/expansion-draft-rules-gain-clarity/

2) This is also not correct. There is no compulsory protection for injured players. Injured players, who have missed more than 60 consecutive games or who otherwise have been medically confirmed to have a "career threatening injury" do not count towards the minimum required exposed players. But they are not required to be protected.

3) Every team must expose at least 1 defenceman and two forwards who meet this requirement. This criteria is for minimun player exposure, not compulsory protection.
