MSG NEWS

Rangers 3 stars edition

A bit late to announce, but we have recorded team Captain Ryan O'Reilly as our first star of the month of March. Ilya Samsonov as the 2nd star in his first month as a Ranger and Shayne Gostisbehere as Third Star of the month of March.

This is our first month of star announcements in some time, years. It signals we are now ready to come up in the standings and fight for some much needed playoff time.

those in the running for THREE STARS OF APRIL:

MSG NEWS

Rangers 3 stars edition

Once again Captain Ryan O'Reilly nails down the 1st Star, this time for the month of April. This is only the 2nd 'Rangers 3 Stars' of the covid era, and the boys have really begun to earn it. We will finish the year with a third consequtive month of 3 Star announcements at the seasons end. Congrats on 2 for 2, Ryan O'Reilly on 85 points in April !!!!!

2nd Star of the team for the month of April goes to young gun Brady Tkachuk! Right on Ryan's heals is the young winger Brady Tkachuk with 83 points in the GML last month. This is Bradies FIRST time being named to the Rangers 3 stars, and it surely is not the last.

Our 3rd star goes to none other than Casey Mittelstadt, proving patience pays off with the kids. Casey really only got his long look in the bigs after the first week of March. He put up 12 points in March as he acclimated to the higher level. He found his footing and managed 8 goals on the month: two Power Play tallies, one SHORT HANDED and 2 GWG's! On top of that he notched 5 helpers, two of those assists on the power play, along with plus3 and 6 penalty minutes. Casey Mittelstadt may have just graduated our Prospect Pool. Congrats on a phenomenal month and on your first Three Star's mention.

Honourable Mention shout outs to Ilya Samsonov with a solid 60 points month, which includes points for a shutout. Adam Erne who notched a 54 points month, and to Nick Cousins and Justin Faulk who each managed 52 points in April.

All in all, 7 players north of 50 points this month is moving the needle in the right direction. (5 players the previous month) Stay tuned in a few weeks time for the Rangers final 3 stars of the Month for May, to end the season.

Very happy to see Konovalov sign with the Oilers. I was not expecting him over so soon but this could be a blessing in disguise for us next season! We look forward to tracking his progress and seeing where how the next few months pan out. Welcome to North America Ilya!

It looks like we have another team out of the playoff mix in the North. Calgary appears to have taken an insurmountable lead for the final spot in the North. Barring no catastrophic injuries CGY should secure that final spot. Putting them in a likely first round matchup with the Division Champion Winnipeg Jets. San Jose continues to hold a large lead over the Blues and is expected to keep the 4th and final playoff spot in the West. SJ will play with Arizona or Colorado depending on who claims the Divisional crown.  The Tampa Bay Lightning appear to have woken up from its post trade deadline slumber. As the Lightning blew past both Chicago and Columbus on our recent Super Saturday showdown. The hawks have managed to hold onto to 4th spot as they pass the Jackets. Detroit seems poised to take the divisional crown in the central - Good luck to those who make it in the Central. Going up against the former Cup winner (NSH) and Cup finalist (DET) will be a momentutal challenge. The Sabres opted to sell some  assets at the TDL and it appears they are suffering the consequences of their actions. The Islanders have continue to pad their lead over the Sabres who dethroned them from the 4th and final spot in the East last week. We are in for a fun final couple of weeks - Get ready for some playoff action folks! it's just around the corner.

Standing movement:

spacer.png passed both spacer.png and spacer.png moves into 3rd in the Central.

West: 173 PT gap between SJ/STL*

Central: 60 PT gap between CHI/TBL

East: 104 PT gap between NYI/BUF

In hindsight, we probably should have signed Spencer prior to the deadline so that he could have led the Sharks onto the ice for the playoffs, but alas…

We still figured his value was only going to go up from here, so it was time to make sure he was locked down for next year.

Thrilled to have him on the Sharks
