Any doubt in the status of the game for tomorrow: "No" Hawryluk also not available. The rest are in the hotel in Edmonton and ready to go. JB: 50 people in the traveling bubble...all get tested every day. The type of season that we'll have to accept that these things will come up. Good depth on the team...as TG has indicated earlier they'll have to be flexible. Likes our d this year...mentioned Hamonic signing. Goalies good in training camp. Says the bubble experience really helped last year. Based on how things have unfolded...is this a wake up call/reminder to tighten things down: Will be on players to take responsibility. As an organization, all the protocols are in place and they've educated everyone. With COVID you don't know how/when/where you'll get it...it'll be out there. The players have to be disciplined in their approach. Hopefully players have the discipline to follow through and keep a full roster. Mentioned the NBA and what's happening there "Dwight Howard playing point guard"....Sixers down to 7 players. Will happen in all the leagues. We have good depth so we'll just have to figure things out and move forward and overcome if we do lose players to COVID. Asked about Hamonic..expectations: Moving closer to training camp started talking to Kevin Epp...to see if there was a fit. Team felt there was...big strong stay at home d man who can move the puck. Figuring out who would play with who. Wanted a solid stay at home d man for Quinn....Schmidt and Edler together...Juolevi and Myers. Looking at who was left out there. Natural process of playing game, watching players, seeing how we do in the W-L column...Hogs is looking good. On the second pp. See where he's at...if he takes a step back we'll evaluate where we are and maybe give someone else a chance or look to the outside (but not really looking there right now). Has the timeline on Hoglander been bumped up? No, doesn't think so...talked in the summer. When they signed TT. Hog's a competitive kid, strong, battles, instincts around the net, can finish things off. Wanted to give him a long look at camp because he's got the tools. How many hoops to jump through in this climate (cap, etc.): Now's even harder...with 2 week quarantine in place. Worked hard drafting, signing FA's and developing. So they have to give them an opportunity now (young guns). Juolevi..."he's stronger, faster and he deserves a chance...we think he's ready". Others too...will get a chance whether it be through injury or whatever else. Loui on waivers: He is on the taxi squad. What is his role this season: he's still part of the group....he hasn't scored for the money we're paying him. But he's a penalty killer, good 2 way player...part of our team. With the pk'ers..they block shots/get hurt/break bones, etc. So there will be an opportunity at some point for him because the things he does well he still does. The taxi squad we'll use all year as the next guys to get called up. We'll be switching guys in and out...we won't keep guys all year on the TS. We want to get the young kids playing. The AHL training camp doesn't start until Jan. 25 and we can keep them here until Jan. 20th. Use it as a training tool....Chris Higgins will be working with them all year. Conditioning and skating coaches will work with them. A valuable way to keep developing guys and get them better. Will spend a lot of time on figuring out who we want up here....want to give a lot of opportunity..whether through injury or illness, to give them playing time. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Sekeres reported the other way around .... so it's anyone's guess. They're also speculating that they don't HAVE it because the rest of the team would be impacted...that it's the testing procedure that's causing this and because JT's a close contact, he's affected.
