TSN.ca Staff Jakub Vrana , The Canadian Press Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana will undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to miss a minimum of four months, head coach Jeff Blashill announced. Vrana was acquired from the Washington Capitals at the trade deadline last season in a deal that saw Anthony Mantha head the other way. He signed a three-year, $15.75 million million deal earlier this summer, carrying a cap hit of $5.25 million. The 25-year-old scored eight goals and posted 11 points in 11 games upon joining the Red Wings. He had 11 goals and 25 points in 39 games with the Capitals prior to the trade. Selected 13th overall by the Capitals in the 2014 NHL Draft, Vrana has 84 goals and 168 points in 295 career games. So at this moment we are not betting on real life Seattle doing a Vegas 1st year. A risk? And the deal also gets us to 50 contracts, after a somewhat quiet off season. Where we cleared about $20 mill in cap after a good 2 year run where we did not quite make it. Had no choice but make some adjustments. With Crosby starting on the IR, we think we have enough left to make play off's? Go in to the year playing money ball, strategically trying to sneak in the back door as @pmalina so expertly did to win the last championship! But we'll see; maybe it will be a rebuild year??? Rush17
ST Louis' WJC eligible players! The world jr's are just a few months away! So we have put together a list of all our WJC eligible players! We saw a lot of players age out last year when STL had a healthy contingent of prospects. This year the Blues see a few returnees and a lot of 18 year olds. There is a good chance a number of the 18 year olds will have to wait until 2023. Returning for STL from last year will be Yaroslav Askarov (G), Lucas Raymond (LW), Theodor Neiderbach (C/RW) and new Russian draftee Kirill Kirsanov (D). Will see who else can crack the lineup. One would suspect Hendrix Lapierre makes the grade this season if he doesn't make the Capitals out of camp. Look forward to the WJCs! AriGold
Quick (honest) assessment of my division... Boston Bruins (Canuck Surfer) - Sold everybody off, not good. Panic will set in and he will have a firesale... Finishing 4th in the division.. Buffalo Sabres (Sygvard) - Cool goalie combo, good luck with that... Probably finish 2nd/3rd in the division... Detroit Red Wings (Salter) - Only real competition but depends on Eichel and that AHL goalie tandem he's got going on... Finishing 2nd/3rd in the division Florida Panthers (Inane) - Team no vaccine.. Should be banished.. Laine with 40 points this year ? Asking for a friend... 5th place finish Montreal Canadiens (Arigold) - GOAT, complete turn around.. Complete team, likely league winner.. Ottawa Senators (Azzy) - Woof... Just not good.. 8th in the division.. Tampa Bay Lightning (Nolan) - If draft picks were players you would be the best team, unfortunately they're not. 7th in the division. Toronto Maple Leafs (Canuckledraggin) - Zajac as your top C.. Nice, should be good for 6th place.

Have to admit we dont expect to be any powerhouse this season. The only guy we regret moving was Barrie. Did not think he would still be in Edm being transparent? Our mistake / your gain. We did get back some young assets, still have a full line up. Its not horrible. We'll be sneaky good if we get in though. Still 23 or 24 play off players. Ahem, what are we talking about! If Montreal is a threat to make the play off's? It can't be that F'n hard...

Master Mind
Buyout window is now open for 7 days Players that are not minor eligible who are in minor slots (players without the M icon) will automatically be waived Oct 10 The following teams have illegal rosters: @Jaku missing 1 LW, 1 RW, 1 bench @thejazz97 missing 1 LW, too many D @BarkovTheCat missing 2 bench, including backup G @Otis missing 1 LW @Matthews missing 1 LW, 2 RWs There are still some decent free agents available to fill these voids, or you can call up prospects, do trades, etc. Rosters need to be valid by opening night or no points will be accrued. If this is used as a tanking strategy, draft picks will be forfeited. 1 1
