The team has continued to rally around the teams rookie duo of Lucas Raymond and Dawson Mercer who seem to have jump started the Jackets franchise. Pavel Buchnevich the team's trade deadline addition just has returned from his 2 game suspension and is poised to take on a bigger leadership role in the absence of long time Blue Jackets Pierre-Luc Dubois who was traded just a few weeks earlier. Dubois appears to be thriving with his new franchise the STL Blues where he has 7 points in 6 games thus far. The Jackets appear to be waiting for operation room for Jack Eichel to be treated. Apparently there aren't any available in the local area lol. The Jackets Calder winner Kirill Kaprizov is off to a bit of a slow start but the coaching staff remains confident he will find his grove soon enough. The team is hopeful it can remain in its current playoff position and hope reinforcements soon come. Jonathan Bernier is expected back later this week. Mackenzie Blackwood has started skating this week on his own. Nikolai Knyzhov is expected to miss 2-3 months after recovering from a lower body surgery. The team is rather light on defence but are actively trying to fill its backend with another NHL body. The team's GM remains hopeful of the team's season but the team will need to weather the storm until their injuries clear up. Relying so heavily on their rookies may also be their detriment. The team will need players to take a step to keep this team in a playoff position. Andrew Mangiapane appears to be doing just that, the winger now has 7 goals in 6 games tying him for first in NHL goal scoring with Alex Ovechkin and former Jacket Elias Lindholm. The season is still young but the fan base has a quiet optimism as they hope the team can whether the storm until the teams newest addition Jack Eichel can return on the mend. He is expected to have surgery in the coming weeks which may potentially make him available for the final few weeks of the regular season. Management isn't expecting he will return to form immediately but he could be a helpful piece down the stretch if the team is battling for a playoff spot. Jacket's newest free agent addition Brandon Duhaime has 3 points in 3 games since signing with the club. He is quickly become an instrumental player in the teams bottom six! I know some may frown as I think I have been hired twice and have lasted a total of about a month. Unfortunately for me, that was in a time of struggle and going through life. We have all been through it, but I have now come out the other end, happier then I have ever been and in a great place, so this time I will commit to the league and hope to build this Tampa Bay Lightning team into a great team and how can you not be excited when you have a player like McDavid as your face of the franchise. After an evaluation of the team, we see that we have some work to do. Our cupboards are empty and the average age of our roster is creeping on 30. We are going to look at heading into a retool, trying to stay away from a rebuild, but if it comes to that we will welcome the challenge. We will look at a 3 year plan to turn this team in to a top playoff team that we have heard it was. We hope to restock the cupboards and we will do it on an approach of acquiring youth rather then draft picks. We will be scouring the free agent talent that is left over and try to see what we can find in terms of FA prospects as well. At this point, No player is off the block. Yes that included McDavid, but you better have DEEP POCKETS if you come asking for him We look forward to the challenge of this team and we hope to get to know each of you that we have not spoken to in the past and look forward to reaquainting with those who we have talked to before.
