We have a trade to announce...

To CAR - Justin Faulk, WSH 2022 5th Round Pick
To WSH - Nick Holden, Kyle Clifford, Josh Archibald, Nick Perbix, Jesper Sellgren, Erik Portillo

Thanks to @Arbourshate for the negotiations.

This one seems a bit odd. But I was on Faulk's list, had to move money out to fit him in, and didn't want to deal any picks. We found a way to make it work out. Portillo is a great prospect, and I am bullish on Perbix becoming an NHL-er, but the deal fit both sides well. Also gives me a bit more contract flexibility.

Well, after that latest trade, think my roster is pretty much set. Don't have the cap to add much else - in fact, if Smith comes back and everyone is healthy, I'll probably have to run a 22-man roster to stay under the cap. Still hoping that Deslauriers gets traded to a playoff team, and maybe Winnipeg/Schmidt sneaks in. But regardless, very happy with what I have, and didn't trade all of my picks and good prospects (for once):

Ovechkin - Kadri - Smith

Lee - Moore - Perron

Burakovsky - Colton - Carrier

Martinook - Rooney - McCarron

Lewis, Carrick

Hedman - Faulk

Chiarot - Schmidt

Gudas - Merrill

Forbort, Deslauriers

Vasilevskiy

Kuemper

Likely Black Aces: Radim Zohorna, Joe Snively, Mitchell Chaffee, Daniil Miromanov, Eetu Makiniemi

Clifford is available with full 50% retention for a pick

He is already below the waiver line

Justin Holl remains available. open to taking an equally bad contract back in an exchange.

(4M per year running thru to 24-25)

Toronto Maple Leafs: You Have No Idea How Good Justin Holl Is

Varly also remains available. Can retain for next season which buys you three years of retention on his contract with an AAV of only 2.25m.

(4.5m this season, 2.25m starting next season running thru to 2024-25)

P.K. Subban also remains on the block. He has a high cap hit of 8m per season. He is reportedly on the block IRL. We would consider moving him if there is a way to facilitate a deal. Our priority would be to get him in some playoff games but if we are unable to accommodate that we may look to try and re-sign him. He would fit in nicely with our young up and coming D core.

(8M this season - Pending UFA)

Subban says he needs to improve as leader with Devils

OTHER UFA's under trade consideration:

Andrew Cogliano (LW)  4.8M
Chris Tierney (C)   4.25M

Derick Brassard (C)   2.25M
Derek Grant (C/LW)   1.5M

Dylan Sikura (F)   0.95M

Tyler Ennis (LW/RW)  1.0M
Sam Lafferty (F)   0.85M

Marc Staal (D)   2.0M

Radim Simek (D)   1.0M

Christian Wolanin (D)   1.375M

Andrew Hammond (G)   0.85M

Let me know. We got sometime. If someone moves to a contender feel free to reach out.

  • Kings' Dustin Brown: Lands on injured reserve

    Rotowire  MAR 13, 2022

Brown (upper body) was moved to injured reserve Sunday.

Brown sustained the injury Saturday against San Jose and will be out for an "extended period", per head coach Todd McLellan. As such, the 37-year-old will likely be out for longer than the minimum seven-day IR period, but more information should become available once Brown is evaluated further.
