JR's TDL and summer moves (Proposals)

Recommended Posts

These moves are made to create Cap space, for Miller, Horvat, Blueger and Severson in the 2023-2024 Season. It should be noted that Myers will be coming off the books, the year Roy's contract is up. This keeps our future Picks and allows us to continue to build. We gave a lot of winger strength, but totally over hauled our RHD. IMO, it is easier to replace Wingers than RHD..............Ok, read and blast away!............Note, we keep Miller! I will also say, that I have been really impressed with Lammikko, and feel he could easily move up with Blueger be winger, which we could then find a cheaper 4th line center.

Boeser  ($6,750,000) and Hamonic ($3,000,000)       for       Damon Severson (NJ) $4,166,666 X1          Cap Space Saved:  - $5,583,333

Jan, you usually come out with these on Sunday nights....what's with the delay?:P

Anyways, good proposal other than I think you have us overpaying for Blueger. I do not want to see us lose Hoglander. Your proposal also only includes a 21 man roster and I doubt the team would want to go that route. You also have not included the $2.4M in dead cap salaries for Holtby and Virtanen.

just my thoughts

Garland and Poolman to NJ for (RD) Damon Severson

Boeser to LA for (LW/RW) Adrian Kempe and (C) Gabriel Vilardi

Motte to NYR for (RW) Vitali Kravtsov and pick

Halak and Hamonic to TOR for (RD) Timothy Liljegren   -  TOR needs D and goaltending, and I believe they have cap space

Miller - Pettersson - Podkolzin

Kempe - Horvat - Kravtsov

Pearson - Vilardi - Hoglander

Highmore - Lammikko - Dickinson  (maybe they can get him going)

Ekman-Larsson - Severson

Hughes - Schenn

Rathbone - Myers

Liljegren

OEL-Myers

Hughes Durzi

Schenn Faber

Well, I was trying to keep all our core, but it is hard

IMO, I think we need to have that extra cap, which we could use it short term , but the truth is we need it long term for our other contracts..........

Where I was coming from, was not to weaken the team, but to rid the excess contracts, and strengthen our RHD in the process....I think I did that

I like them all, but Im not sure why the Stralman trade happens - Stralman and Halak are both UFAs, so Phoenix would just be taking our Poolman contract. I imagine we have to give them something if we want them to take it.

LOL

I had to go back and think  about it a bit, but I got it! Sucks getting old!

So, in the end, we are giving Arizona Poolman for Halak's bonus money (I think we can do that!)

Poolman is basically a neutral move in the sense that he will be a 3rd pairing DMan, but there just are not alot of RHD, so there is some value to him.

His contract is not crippling, and Arizona is trying to shed cap, so this works for them.............

I could be wrong, but that was the thought process..............

I heard on 650 the Coyotes are interested in Shea Weber's contract so they can use it to get to the cap floor.  I don't  know how much interest they have in guys they actually have to pay real money to.  They would want Ferland, but his contract isn't insured.  Benning :picard:

They are going for a serious tank to get Bedard.  I wouldn't be suprised if they re-up Loui, Rooster, and the Dog.

I mean i dont think its too far off but I think Poolman is probably about 1m overpaid, catch is he still has a bunch of years left on his contract - thats why i think we'd have to give them a pick to take him

I like some of your ideas but we cant trade guys such as Boeser and Garland just to create cap space. I like Severson but is a ufa soon and will want a hefty raise in a year.

At the deadline;

Motte, Schenn for Cal Foote+

Halak, Chiasson for picks

Since we're in the race can't see much happening.

In the off season;

After seeing what Hertl just signed for Miller will want 8×9mill and we cant take the risk and giving that term, 4-5 years, yes definitely.

Miller, Oel(retain a little), Hamonic for Carlo, Debrusk, Forbort, Vaakanainen, Beecher.

Boston is looking for top 6 centre and top 4 lhd plus Oel said he would go there before.

Myers for 3rd

Use that 3rd, Dickinson, Poolman to Arizona

Pearson has a NTC, maybe he'll waive

Sign Kuzmenko, Scanlin, Livingston

I had some spare time this morning, so I decided to tweak this proposal.  In the end, it surprised me

how, just a few moves could improve the team, as well as provide more cap space + assets.

Of course, like all proposes, it only works if the trades actually happen.

TDL

Capitals get Motte + Burroughs   Nucks get Iorio(RD)

Offseason

New Jersey  gets Boeser     Van gets  Zacka + Fotte LW  + 2nd

Seattle  gets  Myers    Van gets Appleton + 2nd

Pears(3.5)     Miller(5.5)    Garland(5.0)

Zacka(3.50)   Pete(7.35)    Hogs(.892)

Podz(.925)     Bo(6.75)       Appleton(2.5)

Dickie(2.5)     Lam(1.5)      Highmore (1.2)

* Zacka (RFA $3.5m) + Appleton (RFA $2.5m)  new contracts covered by trades.

* New contract for Bo (6.75x8)

Total: $40.9m

OEL(7.26)         Hamonic(3.0)

Hughes(7.85)    Schenn(.850)

Rathbone(1.2)  Pools(2.5)

Keeper(.850)

Total:  $23.51m

Demko(5.0)   Spencer(1.0)

Total: $6m

+$6M (from Myers trade) - (.840 Foote) + (1.2 Rathbone) + (1.5 Lammy) + (1.2 Highmore) = $4.26m

Total after Myers cap: $1.7m

Dead cap:  (1.9Holtby) + (.500 Virtanen) + (.762 Keeper) = $3.16m

 Team salary $70.14 + dead cap $3.16 = $73.57m

 Ferland LITR                                         + $ 3.50 m
