D-Money
Makes sense. His qualifying offer was $4.85M. This new salary is even lower than a team could have got through arbitration. So should add trade value.

What's the big concern with Debrusk. 6ft guy who scores at a 0.5 ppg through his career and now signed to a decent contract. What am I missing?

Clears cap, and adds a quality prospect. I don’t think that’s what the Bruins are going for though. I think they’re all-in on finding a 2nd line centre. Because you're shuffling deck chairs on the titanic at that point. I don't understand why there's so much noise about moving guys like Garland and Boeser if you're going to bring in DeBrusk. JayDangles
What about Garland for Debrusk and a 2nd. Clear some cap. Get a 2nd. Get a little more size.

Sometimes just adding in a new face can spark something good. If Debrusk wants out then he is likely not playing to his max right now. A new start can change a lot. Also don't underestimate the value of saving some money and what that can do.

I don't want a player who won't give it his all because he's unhappy with his situation. I'd rather have a better player with a much higher motor and care for slightly more at longer term than a worse one you need to worry about re-signing sooner. If you're going to move out those guys and "rebuild on the fly" you need to change the structure of the team rather than move out pieces for slightly worse equivalents just to "shake it up". Canucks Curse
this is probably a sign and trade, supposedly he is fast and he has a 27 goal season before, this is a buy low player, he has been asking for a change of scenery for 2-3 yrs, I imagine he will give it a pretty good try when he goes to a new team. There are many ways of changing the structure of a team. Drafting, trading, UFA's.. unfortunately all these don't happen on the same day.... So there will be trades today that won't reset the structure today alone, but rather start things in motion I trust this new management group and the brilliant hockey minds. They will be making some trades today that at face value won't pass your grades, but they will also be opening up CAP for UFA this summer and acquiring picks. The structure will be shaken to the core... Have patience and consider that each move will be part of something greater.
