Will anyone be upset if we get a typical Canucks answer? There was nothing out there.

How about we accept that there are good moves to do a deep retool (Miller out) but our owner won't allow it?

Oh for heaven's sake, Alf, let it go. Rutherford walked away from the Penguins when the owners and he disagreed. He would NOT take the job in Vancouver if he thought he was just a puppet for Aquilini. Aquilini has consistently denied that he is running the show and has committed all the money he's been asked for. Why is that not good enough for you?

As soon as we heard Boudreau and Allvin say that Miller is the heart and soul and he is their best player I knew nothing was going to happen. Pinning their hopes on a 31 year old who won’t even break 100 points is typical Canucks.

Yup.  Miller is a great player, but he will be 30 when his next contract starts.  His value is more to a team close to the Cup (for the next two playoffs) than he is to us.  But, again, our owner will not allow it.

Didn't the Canucks just hire a whole bunch of upper management including female AGM's that were itching to make their mark in the NHL?

Maybe we are just playing the long game but I feel like we could have at least gotten some picks.  Feels more like a Benning deadline.

Here..............so we trade with Toronto for Dermott

IMO, that is a fringe NHL player we can pick up in the summer

Again, IMO, the 3rd pick is more important, and just as valuable.

It's his team, and he can do what he likes.  He spends to the cap and tries to support having a playoff team every year.  That's great until we need to rebuild.

And so is the cap space.  It's just another example of trying to speed up a retool. Didn't work with Benning.

We have to realize that the team is satisfied with our roster, so much so that we added to our team, despite being five points out of a playoff spot.

This team is gonna be forced to re-sign Motte, which means we'll have even less cap space. Miller is gonna cost us 9 million, or he'll walk away.

You should be very disappointed in our management.

He likes to just waste years when he could have likely been competing for a cup by now. Smart.

I'm really interested to hear the excuses made to praise our new management for doing nothing, all the while moaning about Benning handcuffing us with contracts and downplaying the successes in Miller and our. prospects

IMHAO our owner doesn't like the idea (philosophy) of rebuilding or even a deep retool.  He thinks the team can compete and retool at the same time, using picks as the currency to do so.  I hope it works now, because it surely didn't work with Benning.

So we do nothing serious. Dump cap and a 3rd pairing Dman..obviously someone thinks we have just the right group to still make a playoff run and after the road trip when we are out of the race it's too late to do anything,,,what a total cluster FK..or more appropriately SNAFU . It's getting hard to care anymore
