I wonder what's the nature of the relationship between Michkov and Miro at this point. They played on a line together at YOG and shattered records, but apparently they hated eachother. I later read a report that they fought in practice, but looking into it more I think it meant argued, not actually fought. In Hlinkas a couple years back they played the first game on a line together and then were separated for the rest of the tournament. Miro claims it's in the past and they're friends now but who knows, of course he would say that.

As for Ovie passing the torch, it's a nice idea, but Ovie's contract with Washington expires at the same time as Michkov's with SKA, so unless Michkov jumps ship, which I cannot imagine happening, or Ovechkin signs for another year, I'm not sure it's anything more than a nice idea.

Regarding Michkov pulling a Jagr and breaking his contract to come over early, I just think of Breaking Bad, where the bad guys killed Andrea, but threatened Jesse that "there's still the boy." Killing his dad was all the warning Michkov would need, and you can bet he still has other family he needs to look out for.

I didn’t know that about Michkov

isnt miro considered to be a good kid? A good leader?

would them fighting / arguing being more truth to the Michkov attitude / asshole stuff circulating lol

i could see ovie signing a 1yr deal at least once though at the end

brutal reference! Haha

"He has high-end compete, grittiness, a big shot and the willingness to be the guy that stirs the pot when his team needs a spark."

On Ryan Leonard

Sounds very similar to a player in this years Stanley cup finals.

How amazing if we traded up for him. 11oa+ Lekkerimaki for the 5th/6th pick

He has a lot of JT MILLER and Tkachuk in his game for sure. But we aren’t trading JL and our pick to move up for him I don’t think

Michkov is a crazy talent, even at 5'10" 150. There are concerns though, what happened to his father and he won't talk to anyone (interviews etc).

It's like picking between Door #1 and Door #2. What will Michkov do in the NHL?  Is there too much risk?

Thoughts on selecting Simashev over Michkov, if it came to that?

I know they're both Russian, but Simashev just seems more of a future NHL player. A guy you win with in the playoffs.

Trading arguably our best prospect to move 5 or 6 spots in such a loaded draft would be a horrible move. Especially with the constant fluctuations in player rankings. I wouldn’t move up unless it was a top 3 pick or the cost was much much less.

Early Draft Predictions

1. Bedard - Chi

2. Fantilli - Ana

3. Carlson - Col

4. Smith - San

5. Reinbacher - Mon

6. Benson - Ari

7. Leonard - Philly

8. Michkov - Wash

9. ASP - Det

10. Dvorsky - ST.L

11. Moore - Van

12. Barlow - Ari

13. Wood - Buff

14. Danielson - Pits

15. Cristall - Nash

16. Honzek - Cal

17. Perreault - Det

18. Willander - Win

19. Sale - Chi

20. Yager - Sea

21. Stenberg - Min

22. Simeshev - Phi

The rest

I feel like we need a dman desperately like Reinbacher or ASP, and I’m even starting to get higher on Willander with all the chatter, but Moore has been my favorite forward outside of the bonafide top 3 for probably 6 months now. I’d be hyped if it fell like this.

I do feel like with the two high picks Arizona wouldn’t take two wingers though. Anything can happen at the draft but that would be highly surprising.

the following report is in german language, unfortunately. The content is quite a bombshell. So I try to get across the most important points from this report in the following:

- there have been some rumors that Marco Rossi, C from the Minnesota Wild could be involved in a trade in order to get the Wild a high first round pick (between 5 and 15).

- Canucks are trying to land a young center and are willing to trade for Rossi together with the Wild's first round pick (21 st overall)

- report mentions also the possibility that the Wild and Coyotes could be trade partners (Coyotes hold the 6th overall and the 12th overall pick in this years draft.

Don't know where this is originally coming from and therefore have no clue how trustworthy this source is. The Report below was posted by an austrian hockey fan that is well informed when it comes to austrian prospects.

5'9" centre with 1 assist in 21 NHL games?

I hope not

minny biggest need is top 6 C..

Rossi is pretty small too. If we trade 11 in a package for him I’ll be very sad.

because he technically should be NHL ready and of minny doesn’t want him when it’s a need of theirs that’s a red flag

people worried about benson and Rossi a little smaller i think

Lol how would we all feel of it was JT MILLER for ROSSI + 21 overall

Oh damn! Never thought of it that way, but still probably no. Canucks with Pettersson-Rossi as the top 2 Cs isn't good enough. Be nice to add another 1st round prospect, but the Canucks season would pay the price.

Maybe if it was

to MIN: Miller and #11

to VAN:  Steel, #21, Ohgren and Lambos

Not crazy about these ideas.

Minnesota knows the player than anyone, they also NEED CENTERS, this kid was a high pick with high upside yet they are perfectly willing to move on?

Gives me pause. The pick will get us a better player & JT is too important to roll the dice on tickets like Rossi + #21 imo. Id like atleast 1 piece I'm confident in if we're moving JT.

Ya I am not keen on Rossi at all.

the article just scared me since the price for JT was said to be set at  2 1sts

and if they liked Rossi he’d be a first in value that’s the price and it matches the ask.

i just can’t imagine them wanting our 2C to be Rossi

projecting

EP40

Rossi

Raty

for our future C depth i dont think Rossi is dynamic enough. or a Tocchet guy

They need everything including wingers to play with Geekie and Cooley provided he signs.

It is true, however I certainly expect one of their picks to be a dman. I could very well see them going winger and center or winger and dman or even center and dman but I’m hard pressed to see them getting two wingers in such a deep first round.

It's not impossible, but I'd say very unlikely. Let's break it down: the players who will absolutely without question be gone by 11 are Bedard, Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith, and honestly I think that might be it. It's pretty wide open after that, but I'd be very surprised if any of Leonard, Dvorsky, Benson, Reinbacher are on the board for the Canucks' pick. Personally I'd be ecstatic if either Dvorsky or Leonard are there, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yup I agree on that. Leonard is the guy I had my sights on and was hoping he might somehow slip. Perfect player for us, we need everything he brings but yeah he's 90% gone by our pick.

What is your thinking on Dvorsky's playmaking and offensive skill? Do you think he's going to be a top point producer like a first line guy, second line Kesler type, or third liner defensive specialist? I have a super tough time getting a read on his future.

Nervous they'll trade the #11 for a D. Really surprised they bought out OEL, so nothing would shock me if they did something else bold. I hope they keep the pick and get a really good prospect developing.

Young players developing:

Hoglander - Raty - Karlsson

McDonough - [DVORSKY or DANIELSON] - Lekkerimaki

Bains - ? - Klimovich

Bloom

[SIMASHEV] - [REINBACHER or WILLANDER]

Rathbone - Woo

Hirose - Johansson

Pettersson

Kudryavtsev

Jurmo

Any one of those 5 guys
