Overview

It's Hall of Fame night for the Canucks and fittingly they play Florida, the state where Canucks go to when they want to leave or retire (Luongo..Bure..Ohlund..Jovo..Bertuzzi). It's a great night to reflect on past accomplishments because no-one wants to re-watch the horror of the last game.

The Canucks have juggled lines, brought back Stillman but these minor changes are unlikely to ease concerns that they destined for mediocrity this season. Their opponents are winless on their western swing after losses to the Albertan franchises and will be eager to pick up a win tonight. Prized acquisition Matthew Tkachuk is -3 on the road trip so far and would love to add to his 10-goal season. Aleksander Barkov is possible to return for this game and brings additional checking help. One dangerous stat is that Florida has yet to record a comeback this year when down multiple goals when they led the league in comebacks last season.

Some people say that Florida falling into the sea would help the US, some think that the NHL should withdraw teams there so that prime talents are not wasted and forgotten amongst a population that cares more about Tim Tebow. In the end Florida is just another test for a Canucks team which has failed most of them so far this season.

If you're feeling down about the Canucks then there's always some fun news out of Florida to help:

Luke Schenn is 10 hits away from beating Brooks Orpiks' NHL record for most career hits by a defenceman (2946). Tonight could be the night.

Could we finally be the team setting records (good ones) and not having records set against us??

A sad commentary when a future FA player is getting a hit record and that is the good news

Right choice.

Martin has been good but let’s face it this team can only go as far as Demko can take them. If he can get on a heater like he can that changes everything.

Rutherford said as much, Demko covered up too many holes in the team.

The game;

Hard to figure, if Barkov plays Florida wins, if Tkachuk does Tkachuk type things Florida wins. If Demko does Bubble Demko things the Canucks win.

The Canucks need a better effort than the Washington game.

They can't allow themselves to be run over again.

Florida is just as big as Washington but younger and faster, with more truculence.

Canucks are again squeezing the sticks too tight and afraid of losing anymore ground. Last game they circled the wagons in their zone but gave up too many odd man rushes to a slower team than Florida.

I expect a dirty game, lots of face washing and hard hits.

Bennet has been quiet for awhile.

I'll throw the dice in Florida's favor.

We're taking an L tonight, Panthers on a 3 game L streak, will come into our arena and destroy us.

I believe they get Barkov back tonight too.

This happens all the time. A team comes through Alberta and rolls over, and then plays hard against us to salvage their trip.
