We got Bauvilier and Ratu, easily worth a 2nd and that softened the deal for me.

I like Beau and Raty a lot

I've been super positive about the last 3-4 deals. Hate this one though.

Either way, what's done is done sooooo oh well.

Why ?

What's done is done.

We got RHD.

He looks like a legit second pair offensive RHD.

I know we still need at least one maybe 2 shutdown D to pair with them.

Hopefully management will deal with this before next season.

Shutdown d men are cheaper to get in FA and they have less value. We could get a shut down D paired with Hughes and Hronek paired with OEL, pushing Myers down to bottom pairing where he belong with Bear. I still think Canucks could get another young dman from a Boeser trade

chance Sandin Pelikka, Dragicevic and Reinbacher are all there.

and these guys could have all been Canucks.

Now they won't be.

This move for Hronek isn't a long term move, it's a short sighted move for sure.

We have gotten a lot of young players this season. Kuzmenko, Bear, Beau, Raty, Kravatsov, Hronek, Bloom...that's a lot of young players added to the team. Subtract Horvat, Lockwood and Schenn and it doesn't seem much of a loss.

probably an underwhelming defenseman.

A part of me wonders whether Allvin is trying to recoup a 1st or a 2nd from the Hronek trade.

It's a surprise for sure and took me a bit of time to digest it. Consider that 2nd round pick as part of the Horvat trade. We were hoping for a 2nd for Schenn but it didn't happen and we got a 3rd.

so we can’t buy out OEL because that penalty is gonna cost us another 8 years and oel has a 30 team nmc

At this point it’s going to take a 1st and 50% retainment to a team that he’s willing to waive his NMC for and actually would be interested in taking him off our hands

Benning is in the same tier as Messier as far as I’m concerned. f**k that guy

Yeah I don't blame anyone for liking the deal. I hate it, but as the great TB #27/44 once said, it is what it is.

Not Pubescents?

It's a good mantra though

I'd be happy to watch the Canucks compete hard and have a shot at the playoffs, really the odds of "winning the cup" are low for almost every team and there are better teams but it has to start with good hockey.  It is that something special that makes a team come together for a run and this is something that is unquantifiable. There can only be one winner but damn there can be good hockey.

Seeing the lack of compete the last few seasons has been hard for us all and trying to understand why our franchise has been unable to put together an entertaining team has been even more frustrating. I don't think we are the only team in the league dealing with this issue. Is it a league issue or franchise issue, so far as I can tell cap flexibility due to league parity/restrictions has hurt the Canucks along with other teams in successful markets. Time for a new commish ... just saying
