[Report] Doan to test Free Agency

Recommended Posts

Cap roof just got extended, this is quite possible next season heading into the playoffs:

Sedin - Sedin - Doan

Booth - Kesler - Higgins

Burrows - Lapierre - Hansen

Kassian - Malhotra - Bitz

Weise

Hamhuis - Bieksa

Edler - Garrison

Salo - Alberts

Tanev

Luongo

Schneider

Ideally we sign a guy like Matt Carle or someone to replace Alberts on the 3rd pairing, but that lineup is set to win a cup. Physical forwards on each line, good mix of size, speed and skill up front and the perfect DD-OD complements on defence.

All the talk of Schultz, Parise, Suter, Weber, Nash trade, Luongo trade, ect... I think Shane Doan is being overlooked. I think and hope the Canucks go hard after him and even signing Doan could make it easier for Gillis to get a Luongo deal done, allowing him to not be so hardfast on getting a top 6 forward back.

Imagine:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows

Booth - Kesler - Doan

Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen

Kassian - Malhotra - Raymond

Bieksa - Hamhuis

Edler - Schultz

Ballard - Tanev

Schneider

Back-up

With another blue chip prospect and/or high draft pick in a strong draft at our disposal.

When he leaves Phoenix:

Phoenix will come last in the regular season in scoring, and will get shutout 10 times, but Mike Smith will also earn 10 shutouts.

Phoenix barely makes the playoffs, seeding 8th.

We play Phoenix after winning the President's Trophy and lose in 5 games.

Mike Smith carries the team to the Finals and goes 16-4 to win the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe.

:bigblush:
