DeNiro
This is referring to what happened when the NBAPA filed their disclaimer of interest, they got the NBA to sign an agreement that leadership could continue to negotiate after disclaimer, then they resolved it a few days later. NHL is just saying there's no chance of this happening with them.

poetica
I hope the NHL agrees to a more transitional drop to the cap. The quickly lowered cap punishes high spending teams, even if they were spending within their means, by making them move players they might not want to just to fit under the cap. It would really only help mid spending teams as they would be in the position to pick up great players they might not have had a chance at before if they're willing and able to afford them. The one weird part, though, would seem to be low spending teams. With the new no bonus floor, they might not see much savings. Plus, they say they need to spend less, not more, so one wouldn't expect them to after big players, but they may find fewer, or lower quality, cheap players available as the high spending teams snatch them up to fill the new holes in their rosters. spliced
I don't know why they would file a disclaimer of interest now. From what Bob McKenzie was saying they can just let this deadline pass and re-vote and file one later. Might as well wait until the season is lost if they were ever gonna do that. elvis15
If they feel the NHL isn't negotiating seriously, they'll consider it. More likely though that they'll try and negotiate right up until the season is lost and then file.

SamJamIam
Can someone please explain how a cap of $65 mill vs $60 mill affects the bottom line for players or owners? Players will still get only 50% of HRR. If cap is higher the escrow deductions will be higher.
