It was an interesting show.

But that said....I really like Schneider but nobody wants Lu's contract and you are not going to get much for him.

Wayy better off trading Schneids and getting an amazing return. Let Lu run the show.

Speculation. And obvious speculation at that.

It's clear we need a third line center. There's lots of cheaper options out there that will only cost us a pick. Gillis will find one.

Just finished watching TSN's Trade Deadline preview show and to recap:

Bob McKenzie:

There is no current market for goaltenders. Roberto Luongo, Ben Bishop, and Jonathan Bernier have been on the trade block since the start of the season and currently there are no teams showing significant interest in any of them. That may change based on indifferent play and injuries but it is unlikely.

Canucks are looking for a 3rd line centre with playoff experience who can provide an upgrade on Jordan Schroeder.

Potential Canucks trade bait suggested by Bob McKenzie include: Mason Raymond, David Booth, Keith Ballard, Cory Schneider, and Roberto Luongo.

It's unlikey the Canucks would find takers for Booth or Ballard since they have $4.2 Million cap hits with 2 years left on their contracts.

Canucks may have to get creative to find tradeable assests to fill their needs.

Darren Dreger:

Canucks are not 100% sold that Cory Schneider is ready to take over as the number one goaltender based on his play this season. Will likely keep both Luongo and Schneider until the summer and then reevaluate based on what happened in the playoffs.

Pierre LeBrun:

Canucks will not lower the asking price for Roberto Luongo between now and the deadline.

this makes me sad. Could you imagine danny or hank had to rotate riding the pine every other game? It makes no sense to sit a top player every game. I hope I'm wrong. Go canucks go

My personal take since the beginning is to keep both goalies.. See what happens in the playoffs and go from there..

Also, this should be AV's most telling season, if nothing works out, he's done.

Bob.... Canucks are looking for a defencemen.... once we get Kesler back, we have 4 strong dmans. again... fail..... this guy really hates Vancouver... wow....

Well, I , I feel very good about this draft, but I, I think, potentially you know were gonna have 3 or 4 NHL players out of this group, ummmm, you know like we are not going to prejudice to were they are from.

Didnt we need a 3rd line centre last year at trade deadline? Gillis has had over a year to pick up a decent 3rd line centre and has failed to do so.

Sami Pahlsson?

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

How about a second line center instead of grabbing some guy for the third line that can't play the second.

A 2nd line centre would be really nice, as well as some cheap RH D-men

Kesler really should be a winger....he's a shoot first player who really doesn't seem to trust ANY linemates because everyone who goes on his line plays worse. If he was a winger where all he had to do was wait for a pass and use his speed down the boards he would be much more effective IMO

I hope a goalie is traded to get this 2nd line centre because we could have an amazing, and COMPLETE top 9 if Jensen comes over and proves he can contribute
My 2014 Draft wishlist: 1st rd: Draisaitl, Virtanen, Scherbak. 2nd rd: Brendan Lemieux, Thatcher Demko (Goalie)

We really have a chance to make a push with the assets we get back if we trade a goalie.

Instead MG apparently keeps both and the core gets another year older. I really think after this year the window is closed....

Wow - if Kekalainen pulled that off he'd already be a candidate for GM of the year less than a month into his tenure.
Take Schneider out of that deal and Vancouver still might not win that deal.

I think if Ottawa drops out of the playoff race, Gonchar and Alfredsson IMO are the two players that would put us over the top. Gonchar would be that veteran presence on the blueline and would give our PP a tremendous boost. And Alfie well, what do I need to say? Aging vet thats still producing, and he could finish his career off Ray Bourque style with a Cup.

Sedin - Sedin - Alfredsson
Booth - Kesler - Burrows
Kassian - Schroeder - Raymond
Higgins - Lapierre - Hansen

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - Garrison
Gonchar - Tanev

Schneider
Luongo

Gillis has to be very careful here. If he keeps Luongo, and he turns into a seive in the playoffs again, he will be completely untradeable. A buyout will be Gillis` only recourse if Luongo has another meltdown.

If Gillis was confident in Luongo`s ability to succeed in the playoffs, Schneider would not still be here. Therefore, he needs to minimize the risk and get something for Luongo now, while he still can.

Seriously...?
This bothers me a lot. Yes, Luongo has had a fair share of poor showings in the playoffs but it had a fair bit of the team quitting on him as well as the game and the D-core hanging him out to dry, that attributed to his "meltdowns"

Also had two shutouts in the Finals though, lead us through the Nashville series (yes, the one Kesler gets ALL the credit for) and pretty much was going to win the Conn Smyth had his team showed up in game seven.

Calling him a seive in the playoffs is laughable!
But yes........what has he done for you lately.
