I'm surprised they would take J-Bo's contract knowing knowing that Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo are both going to want Doughty type money for next year.

A man can dream, can't he?

They do have 8 NHL d-men now.... and apparently no starter as of tonight.

Allen has been playing just as well as Halak, no?

Flames might get Mackinnon and can choose to draft a prospect or trade those other 2 picks for established players.

It's about time they decided to gut the team and start over. They should try and get a couple 2nd rounders for Cammelerri to.

In very limited action.

They just gave away 3 picks and two prospects for two defenders.... think they did that to give a rookie goalie the reigns?

Allen has played 12 games, Halak 15.

Fair point though. What is the Halak injury BTW?

Flames will use STL and PIT to trade down and pick Mark Jankowski and pass on Grigorenko AGAIN!

Someone should tell feaster point of rebuilding is picking top young talent, not 2nd tier player who are long shot lol

Grigorenko went 12th overall, Flames had 14th pick before they traded down for Jankowski.

As for this Jbo deal it seems like its the same as the Iginla deal. That Reto Berra guy is a toss up..

Flames manage to get 14mill in cap space and two firsts by trading Iggy and Jbo. I'd also be guessing they will get at least a top 3 pick with their own first.

Yes but hat is he sum total of his NHL experience. Don't get me wrong, he's a good prospect, but at least Halak knows what the playoffs are like.

Don't know how serious it is.

Luongo would be a perfect fit in St Louis too in terms of play style and his strengths and weaknesses. Too many goalies in St Louis though.

Cundari becomes Abbotsford's highest scoring defenseman, so maybe they're hoping to get their prospects some AHL playoff action with him stepping in. I think they're 1-2 spots away from being in the playoffs.. I could be wrong though.

Basically a 1st + AHL improvement for J-Bo/potentially a 1st+a 4th+AHL improvement for J-Bo.

I don't think his value is much higher than a 1st and getting your prospects as much action as possible is important..

Its just basically Jaybust for a late mid 20ish pick.

Cundari is a 5'9 defenceman lol, i bet he poops his pants when Sestito, Kassian and hopefully *crosses fingers* Clowe are on the forecheck.

I think a 1st for Bouwmeester is a win for Feaster.

Peca's words - 'he's the kind of guy you look forward to playing against."

Soft, gives the puck away, lack of compete. Good positional player maybe, but his moving his cap hit is nothing short of a coup, particularly in the coming cap climate.

The prices are pretty unpredictable.

They apparently have about 26mil to resign all those guys. Aren't they on a smaller budget too?

Edit. Oh and Jake Allen.

Watch them trade one of Shattenkrik / Pietrangelo to EDM for Yakupov

Shattenkirk for Yakupov actually doesn't sound too bad. Maybe more pieces can be added to get it done

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

Yup exactly what I was thinking.
A Yakupov - Tarasenko combination would be deadly! And the Oil with a Shattenkirk - Schultz pairing would also be very solid.

If there ever is a year to bank on draft picks, I believe it would be this one.

Supposed to be one of the deeper drafts - akin to 2003 and 2008.

Having 3 1st round picks in a year like this isn't a bad decision.

don't underestimate Berra guys. Hartley was a coach for Zurich a few years ago so I guess he wanted him in the deal. he was never gonna play for STL anyway since he's already 26 and they got young goalies...

he played for the worst team here in Switzerland and took them to the playoffs. big body, ok butterfly and has experience (played for Davos as well and if I remember correctly won the championship)

not saying he's the new Patrick Roy but certainly not far behind that MacDonald guy they're using now

If we got a 1st RP and a couple decent prospects or one 3LC for Luongo I would be happy with that. Maybe this trade could be a guage on what we can expect for our big contract. Arguably better than J-Bo.

If you like looking at statistics to determine who's better, you're just a casual fan.

2.41 season GAA isn't very impressive. Let's not get into playoffs and his SV%.

Cory Schneider is the next Patrick Roy.

Iginla wanted to go to Pittsburgh, that's why their package was so underwhelming.

Bouwmeester is overpaid, and is at an age where you can't reasonably expect much improvement. You know what he is. That's why the prospects they ended up getting weren't great.

This is kindof why the Flames have sucked for so long. They have a ton of players that aren't that good, who are on bad contracts and don't have much value overall.

It'll be hilarious if St.Louis missed the playoffs. Bouwmeester will still yet to play a single game in the post season

I'm expecting Bouwmeester's career to be revived in St. Louis, I've always thought that guy is too big & too skilled to be putting up as poor of numbers as he has in Calgary, hopefully with some talent around him we'll get to see what he is truly capable of.

.....

nuff said.....

Some people are just flat out clueless. The past 4 seasons Edler is cleary the better defencemen then Jay Bouwmeester. One can argue Edler is on a much much stronger team. But Edler's offensive game and physical game is much better then Jay Bouqmeester is who is really just a 6'4 defencemen with a decent break out pass and good skating, but beyond that, as Mike Peca said "he's one of the easiest defencemens to play against" and I think he's one of the most overrated dmans on the planet.

I'm not kidding here. I even rather have Kevin Bieksa at 4.6 or a Hamhius at a 4.5 then Jay Blowmeester at a 6.6 million. When I said this was a good trade for Calgary.... I meant it, cause they were able to get a 1st round pick out of him.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.
