[Rumour] Corban Knight to Test Free Agency

Recommended Posts

Although one would think he'd have an easier shot at making the Flames, I'm not so sure that is true.

Reinhart will certainly be before him on the depth chart and I think that's where the Flames will have him slotted, the 3rd line centre. It might be even more complicated there if Granlund comes over too.

I can't see even them going with two rookie centremen at 3 and 4. He could start as a winger but I'd bet he starts in Abby regardless.

LmAOOOOOOOO ok first of all im like dying laughing here how similar this situation to Justin Schultz, and we will lose him to an Alberta team at the end, but hey what the hell it's the offseason for canucks fans lets have a little fun and stir the pot eh. My research follows:

This was posted May 25, 2011. A day after Canucks beat sharks, 4 more wins = obvious, directed at his pal/media relations for the team who is obviously an Oilers fan ( you can twitter search his handle and oilers and it's obvious)

This was posted April 4, 2013. When Canucks beat Oilers 4-0, obviously poking fun at this Oilers fan buddy of his.

And here's a tweet from his Teammate, (can verify by googling Dillon Simpson and Corban Knight) obviously from this you can tell that Corban was devastated after Canucks loss.

And Finally confirmation that he's a canucks fan from media relations guy at his university team.

It's gonna come down to opportunity again.

Does he have a better opportunity making the Oilers or the Flames? I would say no to the Oilers but yes for the Flames.

The Canucks do have two center spots that are pretty wide open though.

If Gillis, with his wizardry with NCAA signings and undrafted or FA finds not in the system as it was can sign him; he instantly slots in as probably one of the best 2 C prospects in our system. All signs kinda lead towards him going to Calgary though, no matter what his history says. They can offer more and give him solid ice time.

Sid is me and I were on top of this already :)

BC boy, Canucks fan, training with NHLers in Alberta right now (includ. Eberle). Corey Pronman rated him last summer as Floridas 4th best prospect, great 2 way player (more defensive than offensive). Lists him as a potential 2nd line centre in future.

He did a media interview w/ Edm guy 2 days ago (Says 2 teams other than Edm were trying to trade for his rights): Link

Corey Pronams prospect analysis of him, good read: Link

Canucks Army recap of him: Link

I think it's all but certain Gillis goes after him in Aug - if he hits FA. You'd think he'd get a better opportunity in Cgy vs. Edm or Van. But hopefully Gillis can convince him otherwise B)

Another interesting prospect, and potentially easy to get if we do end up trading with Florida at all to include his rights. He'd have a chance to compete for the 3C role here as well, not like Schultz who was buried behind the existing top 4.
