Bissurnette
Pierre LeBrun retweeted St. Louis Blues @StLouisBlues 1h1 hour ago The Blues have traded defenseman Jordan Leopold to Columbus for a fifth round pick in 2016. #stlblues Pierre LeBrun retweeted Jeremy Rutherford @jprutherford 1h1 hour ago The #stlblues will retain $500,000 (pro-rated) of Leopold's $2.25 million salary. Great trade for columbus?? Add an extra body on the backend for a 5th (and STL retains salary)
CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Columbus needs some stability on the backend. Johnson and Wisnewski are like a wild card, and very sporadic in their play.

Jägermeister
Solid deal for both sides. STL clears some salary on a redundant player, CBJ picks up a solid bottom pair D on an affordable contract.
Absent Canuck
This is one of those win/win trades. Good for both clubs.

Xbox
Lol I just googles Leopold yesterday to see if he was still on St. Louis. What a coincidence
Warhippy
Leopold is sure getting around the last few seasons no? So the going rate for a surplus defenseman is a 5th round pick this early in the season
Lui's Knob
How many times has he been traded?
420since1974
Leopold has always had top 4 talent, but never near enough grit for a defense-man who is 6'1" and 200 lbs. He's also injury prone, having only completed one full season in his 11 years in the league.
HC20.0
Man I remember back when Leopold was good, young, and upcoming on Calgary. Bit washed up now, but solid acquisition for the Jackets. He'll help their top 6.
hatedkid666
Columbus had a great start and now they are just trying to salvage their season.
-Vintage Canuck-
Leopold can log up big minutes and play a solid game. Good trade.

Provost
I wouldn't mind us going that route and finding ourselves a solid veteran #6 guy in return for a late draft pick and/or lower end prospect. Can't have too much depth and none of our youngs guys is ready to play top 4 minutes in case of an injury. A guy of Leopold's ilk can do that in an emergency without hurting you that bad. But they love Weaver in Montreal for what he does so I doubt they move him. Besides, I'm pretty sure they're trying to move Tom Gilbert anyways.
