baumerman77
To Edmonton: Kassian Gaunce or Jensen Corrado Shinkaruk Lack To Vancouver: 1st Pick 2015 (EDM) Edmonton has said they want to start winning and would be willing to trade a first round pick. Canucks could get a good prospect (one would imagine a top 5 pick). Benning could consolidate his management of the team by getting rid of some of the prospects from the Gillis era. Edit: As various people mentioned Edmonton wouldn't do that trade, perhaps adding Shinkaruk and switching Markstrom for Lack?
qwijibo
If Edmonton trades what will likely be a top 3 pick in this years draft they're going to get a high value asset that can actually help them back. Not a bunch of spare parts
YEGCanuck
I think the Oil mean they are willing to trade the first round pick obtained from Pittsburg in the recent Peron trade. Likely 20 something.
Piggy Bank
TBH.. I would do it aha. A 13th Overall Pick A 26th Overall Pick A 31st Overall Pick and a 5th round for a 1-5 range pick. But they wouldn't
elvis15
Wait, how does that return help Edmonton win more than someone like McDavid?
Warhippy
Again man if they're moving that pick it's within the top 5 and they're only gonna drop 1 maybe 2 spots from 1st or 2nd overall. They're also going to ask for a Myers or something back in return. Seriously that pick is going to be expensive and we're not trading potential and unknowns for it. Think along the lines of say (hypothetically) Philli is in the 6 spot, they trade Simmonds a 3rd and the 6th for it. Or Myers and their pick, a top D prospect or Grigeranko/Girgensons the St Louis 1st and the buffalo 1st. Seriously, we cannot even compete in this ball field with the teams that can truly offer up for that Wrap those items you managed and reap a bunch of 2nd round picks out of it but not the Edm pick
Odd.
... we are trading half of our prospect depth and roster depth for a top 5 pick. We are sure to get a top 15 or top 20 pick. We could pick a really good prospect there too. stupid for us since it would be poor management on Benning's part. Benning has said we will not trade away our prospect depth. The fact that he obliges to that statement gives me all the confident in the world that Benning is not a Gillis that trades away prospects for rentals, etc. no way even in Jupiter would I ever do that. Wiznac
Ya if they move that pick they would want help now a 1st in return and a nhl ready prospect at least TO VAN : EDM 1ST TO EDM.: TANEV , CORRADO OR JENSEN , VAN 2015 1ST
Nuxfanabroad
TBay could make a nice little play for something like that... Johnson Killorn/Palat Koekkoek Vasilevsky their own 1st, or Rags 2015 1st (maybe just 4 of these pieces?)..Might make sense for Tampa, they'll eventually lose their surplus of fwds in some expansion draft. Phil_314
Or Myers and their pick, a top D prospect or Grigeranko/Girgensons the St Louis 1st and the buffalo 1st. Edmonton could be good if they got Girgensons for the 2nd line role... they'd be much more solid defensively moving forward with a guy who can drive play. Myers could be a good building block for that team too.
CHodgson9
TBH.. I would do it aha. A 13th Overall Pick A 26th Overall Pick A 31st Overall Pick and a 5th round for a 1-5 range pick. But they wouldn't This is the deepest draft since 2003. Assuming we had the 13th, 26th, and 31st pick in 2003...we could've theoretically drafted Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Patrice Bergeron, and/or Shea Weber instead of any of the 3 forwards. 1-5 that year was Fleury, E. Staal, Horton, Zherdev, and Vanek. Granted, this year will be a lottery top-3.
