Columbus Blue Jackets are happy with their start this year. Some players have started out slow, but others such as Mark Scheifele, Kevin Labanc, Viktor Arvidsson, Seth Jones, Cody McLeod, Eric Staal - and especially Sergei Boobtitsky and newcomer Nazem Kadri - have compensated with their excellent production.

We are also enjoying another budding interdivisional rivalry with Pittsburgh (Rangers are old news).

One thing we're exploring is moving a couple of prospects for picks. We're always looking to upgrade, and looking ahead to the trade deadline. We're finding some prospects are valued by certain GMs, whereas other GMs aren't familiar with them. Whereas picks seem to have pretty constant value in deals. We are in win-now mode, so the guys who are likely to get call-ups this year are off the table, but willing to listen to more long-range prospects. So if any of these guys interest you, PM myself and @Monty:

Just looking for mid-to-late round picks. May even consider a 2-for-1 deal.

This year has gone as expected for the Capitals. We currently sit in 30th and apparently are in a dogfight (not sure if that's a good term if you're trying to tank?) with about 5 other teams for 31st. On the bright side, some players that we plan on keeping around in Lindholm, Domi, Crouse, Jensen, Rutta, and Sergachev have all done really well. We expect a bit more from players like Jarnkrok, Myers, and Lehner but there are still lots of games to be played and are quite confident they will bounce back.

For any teams that are nervous about missing the playoffs this year/depth, look no further than Henrik Zetterberg. Henrik has done nothing but be fantastic since last year (351.75 FP 2016-2017), and watching him in last night's game against Toronto you can see why. He already has 42.25 FP this year, and is on a Red Wings team that could end up surprising people come playoff season. We are willing to retain up to 50% this year and possibly next year (depending on what is offered in return), making his salary a very friendly 3.042M for a top 50 scorer. Picks and prospects will be the ask.

Hey @apollo! Backes is in! We don't need to feel so bad for trading you a player that got injured the next day!

I should bench him anyways. Probably gonna get bent by the Canucks. Good luck scoring against the greatest looking Swedish man alive.

Hope he's minus 500 tonight and leaves after a Henrik Sedin head shot :P

Yea right... I'd fake an injury too if I was him for tonight

Probably still has nightmares from this spanking

On behalf of General Manager @Tylez, the Vancouver Canucks are proud to sign the following bridge contract with:

SHAYNE GOSTISBEHERE - 2 YEARS, $5.85m AAV

Haven't forgotten about this. Been really busy. But with that said. Vancouver is really happy to get Ghost signed for another 2 years. It's too bad it wasn't longer but we feel this deal is both fair and cap friendly. Shayne is a very, if not one of the most important pieces of our defense. We see a bright future for him here in van and we hope next contract talks we can lock him up long term.  Want to thank @Captain Azzy and the rest if the commish team.

Rangers Review

Forwards

The Good: Kuzy, Malkin, and Kane continue to score, Foligno has been great when healthy

The Bad: Everyone else. Depth has been invisible, as have the Sedins.

Defence

The Good: Have kept the team together. They've produced 147.5 pts, while combining for a modest $16M in salary. For comparison, Pittsburgh and Columbus' defences have 154.5 and 119 pts, while earning $27.5 and $24.5M. All this while Ellis is injured.

The Bad: Bieksa and DeMelo have been healthy scratches.

Goaltending

The Good: Forsberg is getting starts against quality teams, and has put up 10 pts.

The Bad: Forsberg leads the team in goalie pts.

Congrats to Sammy Blais for his first Scorerpoint in the NHL :)

Dorsett with another Goal ...to sad we didnt use pim´s in this league ...Derek had 34 pims in the past games ...lol

hartnell and rieder cooled down a bit

we should really think about adding shots on goal to the stats next season . and if its just 0,1 or 0,2 points per shot

franson scratched again <_<

Heads up to GMs to keep an eye on Fantrax.

I set my rosters well in advance - usually weeks - come in there this morning and it's haywire with Carlson, Lekhonen in reserve spots?  Not sure what the glitch is, but a good idea to check in if you have time.

The Jets have some assets available - a young or top 4 D likely to be dealt, backup goaltender and possibly a young forward.   Open to inquiries as the FA market grows more quiet.
