  1. Rough day for Hockey Canada under oath. Should produce some positive changes. One of which should be some education for the incoming players at all levels of junior hockey and other competitive athletics. I sat and asked myself how could something like this happen? My experiences as an 18 year old were consistent rejection in the dating pool and certainly the hookup scene. These players it’s almost the total opposite where there access to casual hookups is so much greater than the general public there is a definite blind spot to the what’s out of the ordinary or what’s wrong. They definitely are wrong in this case and future generations coming up need some direction on this. You can imagine a lot of the players leave home for the first time at 16-17 and maybe hardly had girlfriends and then you enter an environment with 18-20 year old peers and a easy come easy go social scene not hard to see where the culture shared part of the blame. Ugly day hopefully positive change as a result.
  2. adding more skill like this is one more reason we should play both power play units on a more quotable basis. I think we get more out of OEL with more power play time.
  3. It’s a fair point arguably rathbone is a hughes lite better shot but notch or two lower skating and passing. Probably needs a situation where he can run power play 1
  4. Probably fair to say he’s not super agile on lateral quickness. On north south game probably in the vein of what horvat does but with much less puck skill.
  5. I think the call was more about that we know hughes is a mainstay for many year to come and more than likely rathbone will become a regular sooner than later and is their room for 3 undersized d?
  6. I am impressed with this players efforts to do their home work and find a good fit. Seems pretty committed to making a place in the NHL
  7. Vey/Baer were knocking on the door to be nhl contributors. While the recent signings are great those guys aren’t going immediately into an nhl lineup. Should old management group dealt so many 2nd rounders away probably not but they had nothing coming out of our own farm system so they made some bets to try fill that gap.
  8. Be interesting to compare him and Woo at camp considering they were picked about 10 spots apart in the same draft
  9. Curious what the situation was with the wild did they not want to sign him or did he choose not to sign with the wild?
  10. As much as I’d like to pile of the laffs their exit was more so due to quality of competition. You could say the same about the oilers advancing to round 2
  11. Somewhere George Constanta is going on his rant that this is like using a wheelchair for the fun of it! welcome to team buzz cut Petey we’re always happy to add new members!
  12. Based on performance in Finland tough to warrant a contract slot for Utunen. Good news for him he seems fairly established as a pro in a good euro league.
  13. The photo of Brock with Duke after the game in Minnesota towards the end of the season really resonated with me from a similar personal situation. All the best to the Boeser family.
  14. I thought it was a good goal. Skate was creating snow in stopping motion. He angled it to ensure contact didn’t seem to be a swipe. I think flames fans rightfully feel chapped over this one.
  15. I think what we are seeing in North America is a bit of a plateau by the start of low population growth. As North America was settled there was huge amounts of room for cities and towns to grow. Capitalism really needs that demand to function. What we are seeing now is like the tail end of a pyramid scheme. There is not enough entrants at the bottom to drive the rest of the economy forward. I’m no historian but I would imagine Europe has already gone through this a few times as large groups left their countries for greener pastures abroad only now families are smaller so population growth is a challenge. Inflation will take some time to reel in as the supply chain is distressed and high commodity prices will take more time than normal to self correct as the push to go green has limited investor interest in producing conventional fuels and driven up inputs like fertilizer which will curtail the food industries ability to respond to demand.
  16. This is an interesting strategy but you probably need to plan around forsberg’s point output dropping to 70-75 points/year based on production around him. The trade Miller piece may still make the team better from a depth perspective.
  17. There’s not a lot of these guys that have top end potential but we do have some volume and they won’t be rushed. Probably 1 or more will be pleasant surprises over the next 2-4 years
  18. I wonder what the breakdown was in the games coached by Boudreau? It looks like Petey notched 27 even strength points in the last 35 games. in the tight playoff games having an A1 powerplay is critical as 5 on 5 play tends to be a lot tighter(unless the games are being played in Alberta)
  19. Big frame winger that can score seems like a fit or a missing link to our current lineup. How are his hands net front?
  20. I think Miller will need to decide between earning maximum dollars versus winning. The current top cup contenders can’t afford to pay him a max deal. 8-9-10 million a year. The Canucks have a season to move things around to accommodate Miller if both sides want that.
  21. Bust risk on a dman is always higher than a forward in round 1 especially top 10. This player looked great in his draft year but getting drafted is only step 1 for most players they need to continue to improve a lot from there to be good nhl players.
  22. Positive development for sure. Start on 4th line and work your way up the lineup Linus.
