Elias Pettersson | Quinn Hughes - Contract Discussion Thread
Zhukini replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
No. The Canucks don't exist in their own bubble. Sure we think we've improved with the players you've mentioned, so do about 20 other fanbases in the league. This is a team that will be anywhere from 2-4 in the division and if you subtract the two best players over an 82 game season they drop a lot lower. -

You can defend the team, I just think it’s a little confusing because as Jack defends his brother saying that he was on a bad team last year and that he’s better than what he showed… You mentioned the name himself, that’s been the story for everyone here about OEL since he was acquired. I don’t see where either party’s wrong there -

He's not wrong? The Canucks were one of the worst teams in the league last year. Idk why everyone's so defensive when it comes to this team, The Senators had more points than the Canucks last year. They've won 1 playoff round under Benning. It's ok to have rose coloured glasses on 24/7, as a fan you can view the team as the defending 10 time champs if you'd like. But I dont know where to take offence when players say things that aren't wrong? If the Canucks were in the top half of the league and Jack said that then sure claws out. -

Datsyuk played more seasons below a PPG than he did above a PPG. He was probably the best player if not second best to Sid in his prime. Petey probably isn't going to top out at 120 points. If he's a 85-95 pt guy who is as good defensively as he was in his rookie season, then he'll be worth well over 10M -
1. Best D - Hughes. He is the best defenceman on the team and needs to play like it. 2. Breakout - Boeser. Think he gets close to 40 this year. Right in time for his next contract 3. Bounce back - Miller. He's the straw that stirs the drink. Ala Kesler, a lot of team success will depend on him. 4. Decline - Hamonic, OEL. I think Hammers gonna struggle this year, OEL might tread water but yikes that contract.

The Canucks have been managed ok at best for the past 7 years. That's why if they don't make the playoffs this year put your money on a clean sweep of management. This was one of Jims better offseason, certainly better than the absolute dumpster fire of an off-season last year. But most of the good things he did this year was just erasing his previous mistakes.

Not far away enough from Vancouver.

Which team improved the most this off-season?

New Jersey was the choice off the top of my head and seeing it said out like this confirtmed it -
How many of these do you think will be lifelong Canucks? Main reason is that if they are any good, you eventually won't be able to afford them all. If you want a 7 or 8 year window to win the cup rather than a 4 or 5 year window, you need the new Hoglander in your system to replace the one you can't afford to pay.

Thats what happens when you dont pick in the first round 2 years in a row. That's one of the weakest farm systems in the league. Put up or shut up Jim. The moment the team falters a little from here on out...

[Proposal] Elias Pettersson change of scenery

Don’t compare Virtanen to Schmidt lol One thought he was too good for us, the other was kicked to the curb for being one of the most well known assholes around the league -

Lol losing players lose. Alex Edler wanted to sink with the ship and now he's at the bottom of the ocean with the titanic. Yes we all love the Canucks, but we all accept medcriocity from them every year. We need more Pettersson and Kesler's. Less Edlers. -

The real travesty is the directions the two teams since 2011 have taken since the final. -

They hit a grand slam in 2014 and have reaped the benefits since. Too bad we weren't picking anywhere close or we could have had a chance at pasta too. -

Imagine how Horvat feels lol. He's got the Kesler in him and we know how that turned out. Pressures on Jimbo. -
This isn't a case of Jake stealing something from the store where there's cameras that can easily prove him guilty or innocent. Good for you (yes you), for deciding to stand with Jake. Takes some real balls to continue to side with someone like that. Doesn't happen to the good guys of the league. Virtanen, Patrick and Evander Kane. Kids keeping some real good company there.

In, if we could do the draft either early or late Sat as opposed to middle of the day that'd be great, but if not whenever works. -

Jim Benning to speak to the media Thursday prior to draft
Zhukini replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
How long are y'all willing to wait to see some forward progress? 1 more year? a 3rd round appearance 3 years from now? Sooner or later the bar has to be higher.
