  1. J.B. has likely set an internal cap ceiling. I don't know what that number is if Boeser is willing to sign a long term deal.
  2. As I mentioned previously, a lot of defects can be forgiven, bad luck, bad hands, bad skating, bad coordination....etc. What is very alarming is that Pettersson is so weak and slow, indicating that he did nothing during the summer to improve his skating and strength. This is especially unforgiveable considering how he did improve his physical condition prior to the playin/playoff bubble series and physically held his own against Min, STL and Vegas, 3 big physical teams.
  3. Not particularly high. However if a team is willing to wait long enough, for instance Colorado trading Duchene, eventually a team in a desperate situation will up their payment. However, waiting that long may create a toxic situation.
  4. Less trade value by then. One year deal walks him into free agency.
  5. As part of asset management the team should negotiate an 8 years extension now. If Boeser is unwilling to discuss right now or they can’t come to an agreement they must explore trade options by the trade deadline. They can’t allow Boeser to go to arbitration and get an one year extension,
  6. The problem is that you are attributing certain things to J.B. when it is likely that they should be attributed to the ownership as well. In other words, if a new G.M. is hired, the new guy may still take his marching orders from the ownership. The new guy may be worse than J.B. especially when it comes to drafting.
  7. I am very upset that you have yet to post these in the Pettersson and Boeser threads. How dare you?
  8. But fans bitched about J.B. signing and keeping older leadership type of players to take off the burdens from the young guys. You can't have it both ways. Fans need to put themselves into the G.M.'s shoes. As G.M. you can't foretell the future. A lot of times you are betting on something meaning that it can go well or go bad. You don't know ahead of the time. J.B. was betting on that the warrior Chris Tanev would be injured each and every season with the Canucks had he resigned.
  9. If I am the owner I think the most troubling question to ask J.B. is whether the team should still be built around Pettersson and Boeser.
  10. But Travis Green and Jim Benning are veterans now. You have to be careful with the alternatives out there. They were all fired from their previous teams for a reason.
  11. At least we are not losing in the Cup Finals this year so some of those fans can set the city on fire.
  12. I'm not for firing J.B. at this point. If ownership is ready though they may ask J.B. to stay as president. J.B. has a good relationship with ownership.
  13. According to fans, who the new guy is is immaterial. The new guy is guaranteed to be better than Travis Green. The new guy to be named has magical powers and will single handedly revive Pettersson's and Boeser's season. Our PK an PP would be anew. In fact, since firing the incumbent is guaranteed to make way for someone better, we should fire the coach and G.M. every 6 months to improve the management and coaching staff in a linear progression.
  14. Why doesn't the coaching staff deserve the Covid excuse?
  15. I'm sure they work on shots during practice. It is apparently ineffective though because during actual games when they face opponents' goalies they cry inside and can't get their shots to work. They are mentally weak. They can't take the pressure.
  16. After seeing the replacement coaches proposed here I changed my mind. We have to keep Travis Green as long as possible
  17. So every time the highest paid Canucks forward craps his pants we have to fire the coach? Does this sound like a franchise player that can lead the team to the Cup? Is this really the type of player that fans should cheer for?
  18. G.M.'s and coaches are such easy scapegoats. It's like excellent G.M.'s and coaches grow on trees and they are available for hire whenever we desire. It is Travis Green that destroyed Pettersson's promising career. It is J.B. that has taken Boeser's snipe away. The owner of course is really enjoying spending millions of his own dollars on the team to make sure the fans suffer. The poor players are the real victims. Someone please save the poor innocent players.
  19. People need to stay objective. Overall, the team has great goaltending and competent defence. The problem is the forward group. It is clear that the core forward players are not ready to take the next step yet. J.B. facilitated the Arizona trade during the summer for the core. The core so far is failing. The best thing to do is to stay the course and shine in the NHL draft. I do agree that Travis Green should be let go not because he is a bad coach. It is time to make a change. Travis means well when he stresses the defence side of the game. However I do repeat the same warning here. There is a real likelihood that the Canucks fall into the pattern of switching coaches every couple of years like many other teams did. All of the veteran coaches that are currently available were fired by their former teams for substantial reasons.
  20. Hughes is tiny, and so is Garland. They are not as physically slow and frail as Pettersson. What does this tell you about Pettersson’s commitment and professionalism during the summer?
