  1. Travis Green is too nice. He wants love from the players. He puts his trust on his players to perform. He trusts too much. Why do you think Torts swears so much?
  2. So Pettersson and Boeser get no blame it’s all the coach’s fault?
  3. J.B. made the summer trade for the core players. The core players did not return the favour. J.B. does not owe them anymore.
  4. I understand that a lot of people do not wish for this forum to become excessively negative. However just look at the Pettersson apologists in the Pettersson thread. Pettersson is slow and weak. His lack of physical preparation during the summer is indefensible. Look at how physically challenged Hughes and Rathbone are. Yet both smaller defencemen are sturdier than Pettersson.
  5. The primary thing that the PK squad can improve is to block more shots. There is not much they can do about losing faceoffs. PK may be the weakest link for the team for the rest of the season.
  6. Agree with what you said. However, Miller is actually more vital to the Canucks roster than Boeser. Miller is more experienced, faster skater than Boeser, great wrist shot and decent slap shot, can play centre, PP and PK, leads the rush, plays physical along the boards, a goal scorer that also makes plays. This is the problem facing the team this summer. Boeser is younger but a bit injury prone and less versatile. Boeser is sort like Tarasenko. I think Travis Green cannot live without Miller.
  7. Looking at the Canucks salary structure, they have already committed a lot of cap space to D. I'm not sure that J.B. wants to commit even more cap room to D unless Tyler Myers is traded. I'm sure that the Canucks analytics department already studied previous Cup winners' salary structure and informed J.B. of the golden ratio.
  8. Fans are not as informed as they think they are. A lot of fans think that net front presence is just standing in front of the net. The problem is that only a small portion of NHL players know how to angle themselves to put a shade on the goalie who is moving around trying to see beyond the screen. At the same time, the net front player is fighting off the opposition D who is pushing him around physically while still trying to tip the incoming puck or track the rebound for a tap in. The Canucks forwards group in general is not great at this. At the time, the coaching staff wanted to retain Chiasson's skillset not because he is so great but because other Canucks players are not great in front of the net. To put it another way, Travis Green watched the Canucks players for years. He saw something in Chiasson that other Canucks players cannot replicate consistently. Gadjovich does not PP nor PK. He is too slow to make his physical presence felt. They don't really need a fighter warming the bench. They liked Gadjovich and do think he may progress in time, but the waiver requirement stands.
  9. Sorry, the 3rd line is reserved for Podkolzin and Garland. Pearson is just gonna have to work with the second line
  10. Garland is a master of using his stick as his 3rd leg. He is like an insect
  11. Hoglander has 4 points in 12 games. Why can't people nitpick? Did anyone ask Hoglander to be traded or calling him a bust?
  12. I hope someone tell Podkolzin to really enjoy every moment of his rookie season. When you are a rookie, you may be too dumb to be scared. You just play. You just shoot at the net not realizing how awesome of a reputation the opposing goalie has. Boeser and Pettersson both had rookies' luck in this regard. I think this is something that Travis Green has underappreciated about Podkolzin even though he is right to not put too much on the Russian rookie.
  13. Some people just follow one hockey team and that is end all be all. Some people follow hockey in general and point out that young players are not finished products. They have untapped potential but they need to work hard to realize the potential. Hoglander is not a finished product. Pointing out his flawed shot is believing that he can improve in this area.
  14. Pettersson has regained his speed, which is not particularly great. He is still physically weak compared to his physical condition during the play in series and playoffs. I hope that during the Olympic break he can recoup some of his strength. It may take a couple more years for him to become physically mature.
  15. His shot is not good. I recall that his SHL coach made him work on his shot after the NHL draft. He needs to work on it. It’s feeble right now.
  16. Are those Vegas players going to waive their no movement clauses to get themselves traded?
  17. Vegas has a lot of top players with no movement clause. I'm not sure they are gonna waive so they can be traded out of Vegas for cap space.
  18. 5-3 Rangers win. The top 6 took another step forward by scoring 3 goals.
  19. I think this is the time to panic. This reminds me of the first year of Mike Gillis' tenure when Alain Vigneault was reeling from a bad losing streak. There is a real possibility that Travis Green may be fired. This would be a major risk to the team because his replacement may not do any better.
  20. Our goalies are great. Our D is competent with F backchecking better. Our bottom 6 is hard working. The problem for the team is very obvious.
  21. Once again, same story, our goalie is great, defence is competent and keeping us in the game. Bottom 6 work hard. Top 6 is not creating much.
  22. It’s not that he is not trying. He clearly competes. The problem is that he did very little physically to prepare for this season. Recall that due to the onset of Covid a stretch of the NHL games were suspended. Pettersson took advantage of the break and became physically stronger. That’s why he was physically ready for the play in series and playoff. He reverse hit guys and did really well against big and physical Minnesota, St. Louis and Vegas. He clearly slacked off this summer. This is why he looks like he does not belong in the NHL physically. Our AHL players skate better than Pettersson.
  23. 7 to 2 Oilers smack Canucks. Zack Hyman scores 2. Yamamoto, Bouchard score as well.
  24. It's not a mere slump. He is out of shape. He did nothing this summer to help his physical form. He is slow as Chiasson and weak like Mason Raymond. Boeser is not scoring but he is quick and strong so he is able to get to the net and missed on some quality chances. Lack of confidence, hands, timing and luck are all forgivable and they will come back. Lack of professionalism to improve oneself physically in the offseason is what Travis Green and this fan base hated about Jake Virtanen.
  25. Both goalies are good. The D pairs are doing a decent job. The forwards are backchecking better. They are in most of their games. They just needed the top 6 to chip in one or two more goals per game.
