  1. A NCAA player that some on here were concerned he wouldn’t sign.Keep counting chicken littles. We have another blue liner who will help this team in the position we need the most. Very solid and welcome Jack!
  2. I’m really hoping this is the case with Marky and Tanev. With the cap unable to rise for the following few years, I would believe teams and players will go on shorter deals. And in the Seattle draft’s case like Edler last year, we want to sign them to a deal that will protect them from Seattle. Problem is I’m sure Marky and his agent are hoping for that big contract this off season. Should be some very spicy off season-ing
  3. You are the Mayor of Rightville. While some others are flat out Wrong wrong wrong wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrong. Whole heartedly agree that the media in this city is beyond toxic but some dump on the team because they hold resentment and loyalty’s of the previous management. Sounds like a conflict of integrity of journalism, wish you could revoke ones media pass/privileges for that. Would sure piss off a bunch of parasites in this market, and keep our own players content and not pissed with the media.
  4. After reviewing the article, the guy who posted was no other thanToronto journalist Steve Simmons who is a toxic parasite member of the Toronto media. Same guy that came out with the article that said: “Jim Benning stabbed Linden in the back” I should’ve been more careful reading who was behind the article.
  5. What stuck out for me with that article was the quote: “NBC was not happy with the NHL having two Canadian hub cities for its return to play. Apparently, NBC wanted an American hub city.” Sorry not sorry to “upset” NBC and what exactly were they thinking the NHL was going to do? Have a hub city in the worlds epicenter of covid outbreaks?! Sure it’s about the safety of the players. Which is why the NHL chose Edmonton & Toronto for the hubs. I’m glad they Gary and the NHL didn’t cave but holy smokes, what a bunch of fat cats wanting their staff on their turf regardless of how the US is doing with the outbreaks.
  6. The only reason why the muppet from Ottawa (who holds no loyalty to the team) posted it so that TSN1040 would be relevant. Hockey is coming back and there is a conclusion to the season that needs to happen before any major transactions can be done. So why are they talking about a trade that can’t happen for months? To be relevant while another radio station/TV company has the rights to broadcast/air the games. Just comes back to TSN being salty af about losing the rights to the Canucks games. Let’s once again dig up dirt and find a nugget of their own $*!+ that they like to call reporting. It’s garbage from the media like this that makes players question the desire to play here. Happy that Tony G is retired. Pratt away gone from the airwaves too. We’ve had some cancerous media members and we still do. TSN1040 is still butthurt from losing the rights to Canucks hockey, get over yourselves and watch some hockey... oh you can’t Boohoo! Trades? We talkin about trades? During PLAYOFFS?!
  7. Thank you salty and butthurt TSN1040 for keep showing the fans that you can’t be trusted with your “reporting” I mean who else would be bringing up trading a top 5 player on your roster IN A TRADE FREEZE! They know that teams can’t even trade until the season is concluded (although I believe teams both eliminated can do transactions EG:Guddy trade) Only TSN1040 would bring up something that isn’t even relevant at this point and time to discuss. That would make them relevant. So nice try 1040, there is hockey to watch/listen (just not on your station as you well know) just on the broadcast that has their rights. Something TSN1040 doesn’t have and are still so salty about.
  8. Sounds like at least 9 penguin players might have covid so it looks like both teams facing each other have issues with their personal. But I’m sure we will hear more of this before teams depart to the hubs.
  9. Very well put. I guess I did say it in a way that made that era as golden as the Sedin one. But coming out of the Messier dark days and having Harold Druken score to put us into the playoffs for the first time in 4 seasons. Of course we did get swept by the Av’s though and we didn’t have our best player and captain in Naslund (Thanks Rhett Warrener) it was nice to see the team move in the right direction from the miserable moose days. The arena gave the team a big applause because they did make the Stanley cup playoffs for the first time in awhile. So it was a bright spot in spite of being swept. It brought us hope. Then in 2002 we saw the birth of the WCE which brought us the most exciting line in hockey for a few seasons. I remember that push for the playoffs that year, it didn’t look good to make it and we basically had to run the table. We went on a tare to finish the season and clinched a playoff spot with one game remaining against the flames. I recall we could’ve seeded anywhere from 4-8 spot (the bottom four were really tight in the standings) and unfortunately we finished 8th and facing the the Red Wings, presidents trophy winner which would be the second straight post season we played against the leagues best no Salary cap powerhouse. I remember that crazy first game where it was back and forth and Henrik scoring in OT. Then in Game 2 we lit up the dominator again (especially loved Nazzys wrist shot for the 3rd goal) and won 5-3 going into Vancouver up 2-0. Then yes as you put Dan “I like to fight, sometimes like to stop pucks” Couture allowed the infamous beach ball from the redline goal to completely suck the energy out of the team and the ruckus crowd at General Motors Place. We never got back on our legs after that and Wings took us in 6. Then came the 2003 season where the team won 10 games in a row in November and Dan Couture has the best hockey of his career earning him the player of the month for the “November to Remember” The WCE was tearing up the league and unfortunately we did “choke” in the last few games where we would’ve won the division (although seeing how the Avalanches fate in the first round ended it possibly was a good thing...until the 2nd round) and played the Wild in the first round. Nazzy would’ve won the Art Ross, Hart and Richard trophy. Then we were set to play the Blues who had a healthy Pronger and Al Mcinnes and were a nasty bunch. We got whooped 6-0 in that first game. We barley won 2-1 in game 2. Then we lost game 3&4 and looking like we were going to submit to the blues. Until Scott Mellanby’s kids caught the flu and gave it to all the blues players. That helped us come all the way back from 3-1 and game 7 was a crushing win with how Bert and Cooke double teamed Blues players with huge hits. I believe we destroyed Mcinnes’s shoulder at the end of the series. Then looking and seeing Andrew Brunette score the last goal on St. Patrick’s career in game 7 in OT that set up our match up with the Wild. The first game will go down as one of the most biggest adrenaline rushes that I’ve ever experienced watching sports. With 2 seconds left in the third period, Matt Cooke scored to force OT. Then role player and Minny hometown boy Trent Klatt scores it in OT. Wild won game 2 but then when it came to game 3 once again there was a very dramatic finish with Jovo Cop scoring with 3 minutes left in the game to force OT and have Dope Sopes score the OT winner that gave us a commanding 3-1 series lead. I guess the team and mainly Bertuzzi got ahead of himself and told fans not to lineup for game 6 tickets because there won’t be a game 6. Well he was wrong and yes there was. I absolutely lost all faith in Danny Couts when being up 2-0 in game 7 with a little left in the 2nd Wes Walz scores the most fluky goal behind the net that bounces off Couture and in. The third period meltdown sealed our fate especially once DARBY FREAKIN HENDRICKSON scored the G2G and series winner. That was such a ride of a season. The highs gave me goosebumps and adrenaline but the lows gave me depression and angst. I knew after two post seasons of Couture was not going to get us over the hump. 2004 we had Hedberg as a reliable backup. Of course the tit for tat Steve Moore saga happened that season but overall it was still a decent season. We beat out the Allstar team Avalanche of Kariya, Selanne, Sakic,Forsberg,Hejduk,Blake and Foote for the Northwest Division and played the Flames. Well surprise surprise Dan Couture in game 2 injured himself and we went with Hedberg for one game and then Auld had to hold down the fort because Crawford didn’t have trust in JOHAN HEDBERG (Donny Taylor fans). We went down 3-2 in the series with it going back to Calgary facing elimination we gave them a game to remember. Up 4-0 then the flames battled back to force OT and then B-Mo scored in the longest Canucks game (at the time) in franchise history. That set up the game seven showdown that had Clutch Cooke score a short handed goal with 5 seconds left that made Jovo in the box look like he was going to break the penalty box door jumping up and down like the hulk. Extremely exciting times being a Canucks fan with these heart stopping goals the last two seasons in the playoffs. Unfortunately this one had not a great ending with the “eliminator” Martin Gelinas who ended our season. While those days don’t have a true happy ending (and the team is still writing it) I come out of those years with memories of high intensity scoring off the rush goals, bruising hits from the blue line with Jovo,Ohlund and Baron, and sometimes some goaltending but not when it mattered. I have fond memories of those times while it wasn’t the end result we were looking for, it did have its moments to be proud to be a Canuck fan. I surely would take those years over the 1996-2000 ones. So to answer you @IBatch while they aren’t golden days maybe more like the Silver lining on the jersey scheme they wore back in the day. Not great not terrible. The End
  10. Man I love that trade we made for him. Guy is a key part of our bottom six and while fans were hoping for a pick in the Vanek return, I am so glad we have this spark plug on our squad. Him and Gaudette are two guys I see come up big in this play-in/postseason.
  11. Wonder how many exhibition games and who the opponents would be. While I do understand that they need some sort of warmup for the big games. The exhibition games could also cause injuries before the games that matter start up. But good to know we have a full roster at camp. Maybe we might see OJ play some games.
  12. The Conference finals and Stanley Cup Final will be played in Edmonton. It would be the eastern survivor of the Toronto hub that might have a disadvantage when they have to readjust. Sadly no Bruins ( only hoping this if it was hosted in Toronto) cup will be raised in LeafLand.
  13. The Wild needed to get better and GM BG got someone who has a good track record with Benning. Feels like we brought back the NorthWest Division rivalry. Wild and Av’s in the play in and technically the 2nd round. And now this vinegar sprinkled in makes things spicy. It’s like the good ol days.
  14. Nothing against Ballard and his injuries here unfortunately never gave us the proper value that we went out to trade him for. I will also say to the posters who said how Grabner wasn’t anything special at the time. It is true Florida gave up on him during training camp but does anyone remember that before we traded him he had gotten a hat trick that very year in 2010 even on the very few minutes that AV gave him. He had 34 goals in the 10/11 season with the islanders and I think back to this trade had we kept Grabner and went with Hamhuis, Mitchell rather than Ballard, Hamhuis. The story and end result might’ve been different as in the SCF, it was goals that we sorely needed and that year Grabner did provide. So people forget that line of Raymond Kesler and Grabner as a line that created speed and headaches for the opposition. Anyways looking back I see why GMMG did what he did to ensure we would have an additional defenseman for the push for the cup. He didn’t expect hammer to sign after the fact. Also Fun Fact: had Sami Salo not had that Achilles heel injury in ball hockey that 2010 summer, it would’ve cost the Canucks to move a defenseman (rumor was Bieska) to make room to get under the cap. Thankfully Balls of Steel helped out our cap situation to make it all fit.
  15. I made the same text out to Sportsnet 650. Wouldn’t mind seeing them wear the intimidating black jersey for the play in series. Sure was a barn burner to watch them play in those against the Sabres back on Dec 6th. It’s still the 50th season so let’s keep the party going!
  16. Like many have already said, Lowe is in there because he was beneficiary playing on stacked Oilers and Rangers teams. Right place at the right time gave him 6 cups. As stacked as the teams he played for were, he was a minus player 7/19 seasons hard to do being on those high scoring Oiler/Ranger teams. if Kevin is in, when do you make a spot for other defensive defensemen like Willie Mitchell or Adam Foote who have two cups each? Doesn’t hurt that Lowe was good buddy buddy’s with team Canada and the old boys club. The bar has been lowered or there is a massive bias, or both.
  17. And people wonder why it drove players like Theo Fleury to have substance abuse addictions and internal demons that haunt them the rest of their lives. All these young and trusting athletes willing to do whatever it takes to make their childhood dream come true. Put the trust into these coaches. The predators like the ones running these junior clubs give these boys mental scars, addiction and abuse for life. Absolutely immoral. For a country that prides it’s hockey, there is so much ugly and darkness of the game we need to address and need to be better. God I feel so bad for the parents of these victims that did their best to get their kid to follow the hockey dream only to hand their child to a sick **** that’s going to damage them beyond repair. How about you talk about these kind of stories there Ron on your hometown hockey eh?! Because it’s an uncomfortable story we don’t talk about it? Well it’s about time we get uncomfortable and talk about it, so we can get rid of the roots of the underlying issues of the (not so) good ol hockey game.
  18. Add Tim Parker to that list. They screwed up with his contract negotiations that ended with us having to trade him. He and Watson were such a great pairing. How they completely depleted that was once a competitive roster. Didn't even hear about how they screwed Davis of his 10% cut of the transfer fee and give it to the Caps. We haven't gotten a licking out of that money except for Hwang and Cavallini. This is why fans are fed up because management and/or ownership is screwing EVERYONE over. Such a joke of a slogan for this franchise, our city our honor.
  19. We also got a conditional (the condition being if the sharks won the 2016 Stanley Cup the pick would turn into a 1st) 4th round pick in the Hanson trade that became Rathbone. He sounds like another D man in our pool that could help us down the road (31 points in 28 GP with Harvard NCAA). Not all is lost with the Honey Badger return.
  20. The trust of the fans has been broken for several years now and for management to hype up this “world search” and find their guy, only to ditch him 5 months into a 4 year deal is just comedic. The FO is still the same $€!+show with Rachel Lewis, Greg Anderson and Bobby Lenarduzzi who have been here from day one. Until this franchise is uprooted completely with the names above are gone. Also I find it interesting that it’s Mallet that always is the one doing the PR when it’s Greg Kerfoot that is majority owner and seems to be the one who Rachel,Greg and Bob all follow like lapdogs. By the looks of it, the Whitecaps will go the way of the Grizzlies and either move or fold a la Chivas FC by the time 2025 rolls around. Such a pity as Vancouver is a soccer city but with the reputation that the whitecaps have right now, very few things will save this franchise. Winning will help but you need to have willing owners for that to happen. Just another avenue of trust that this team has failed to deem confidence to its fan base. What bottom will this team hit next? I see Axel resigning or being fired after this campaign is over.
  21. @Herberts Vasiljevs yup I was being a tad fictitious with that part. He has nothing to stand on with this because he didn’t do anything after he got his money with the blue jackets and then got shipped to Carolina for a 5th round pick. This really makes Carter looking like he’s grasping straws here
  22. There was a reason we signed him for only $1 million after the lockout season. He was falling off the map of the hockey world. The Sedins gave him that second life and he blames race for us letting him go? He can call it race but I and many would see it as greed. He sure showed us Canucks fans that we made the big mistake after his elite stops in Columbus and Carolina. Fun fact: he was traded to the hurricanes for a 5th round pick. That’s all you need to know. But yes let’s use the race card and bite the hand that fed him to the Canucks Organization. FFS
  23. Summer of 69 had a lot different tune than the summer of 2020. Understood that people are upset about the wet markets but don’t hold a whole race to it. I’m upset they reopened as well but not blaming all Chinese for it. Bryan is better than this. Oh well I guess he could always go back to being a dishwasher at the tomahawk.
  24. It’s definitely something to ask and think about. Surely we want Markstrom to be in net for the playoffs but with the way things are the NHL and NHLPA must have some sort of courtesy agreement to extend the contracts until the season is complete. For TanMan, Tofu and Marky we need them for the Stanley Cup Ballroom Blitz.
