Yeah right and then get lit up by Loui Eriksson's snipes every time we play LA? No thanks. Trade him to the eastern conference. Or Siberia! -

Which Canuck has most exceeded your expectations so far?
BrockBoester replied to BrockBoester's topic in Canucks Talk
Yes, to all that mentioned this - I was going for overachiever without the negative connotations usually associated with the term. So "biggest surprise" or "exceeding expectations" is more what I was shooting for! I will change the thread title just to remove any confusion. Thanks for everyone that has weighed in so far, this has been a great read -
Why don't we just throw in the entire roster AND Travis Green, and ice a lineup of: Hall-Hall-Hall Hall-Hall-Hall Hall-Hall-Hall Hall-Hall-Hall Hall-Hall Hall-Hall Hall-Hall Hall Hall Coach: Hall In all seriousness though, no thanks on Hall. If we're going to acquire a high level forward via trade, we should wait a year or two and then get a forward that's available that's closer to our core's age. Plus, Taylor Hall was drafted by Edmonton, so I'd rather not see him in a Canucks jersey, lol PS Please stop making threads involving trading Marky

NHL Commissioner: We will not tolerate abusive behavior
BrockBoester replied to Toews's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Bettman has deemed it entirely possible that Marchand was actually licking people out of affection rather than maliciously. Therefore Marchand will be allowed to stay in the league but on a very short leash -
Which Canuck has most exceeded your expectations so far?
BrockBoester posted a topic in Canucks Talk
In my opinion, we've had several surprises and bright spots in this season so far. There are many players that, one could claim, have had a much better start to the season than was expected in the summer. And it's great to see that some of our newcomers are among those names. These are the players I see fitting that description, in one way or another: Myers - SO many people were crying about giving this guy 6 mill with term - and again, in my opinion, he's been an excellent addition to our top 4 defense. Yes he has his off nights, but he puts in great minutes and has that massive height/reach advantage going for him. I say, well worth the contract we offered him. Benn - This guy is ferocious. What a great, cheap signing. Love seeing him dish out the punishment on the back-end (and he's got a mean beard to boot) Hughes - Man. Can anyone really have expected that this guy would be THIS good, right off the bat? I have to say, I underestimated him just a little. Leivo - Another great mid-six forward on a nice cheap contract that produces more than a dozen Erikssons. I really hope we re-sign this dude because he's great in his role. Miller - Holy hell how stupid must all the people that were complaining about giving up a 1st rounder for this guy feel today. Just take a look at the JT Miller trade thread - it's a hilarious, albeit long, read. What a great acquisition this was! Demko - Also a player that's been having his bad nights here and there (like Myers), but when he's on his game, wow, what a treat to watch. And he JUST turned 24 years old. Let's lock this guy up long-term, GMJB. Gaudette - From training camp, to a frustrating stretch of sitting out games in the NHL, to finally hitting the ice and continuing to play UNREAL in the big leagues - Adam Gaudette better be here to stay because the sky is the limit for him, as far as I'm concerned. Sutter - Expectations for ol' Brandon Sutter were pretty low considering his recent injury history. But he's been "real good"! Eriksson - How this guy is not leading the voting for Pacific all-star team captain is mind boggling. His work ethic and pure hockey skill are unmatched league-wide! If I could pick only one I'd have to say JT Miller although I had high expectations for him to begin with - so to surpass that, for me, is a very pleasant surprise. Benn and Demko have been way better than I thought they'd be too, and Gaudette and Hughes have even surprised me a little (although they are both very high-potential guys so maybe not as surprising). So, I ask you all, which one of these players do you think has MOST exceeded your personal expectations from the off-season? -

Yeah that's what I was going to say, isn't Bettman rigging the league and discriminating against Canadian teams a prime example of abuse? -

Mixing up the lines (Discussion)
BrockBoester replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I don't think splitting Petey and Brock is a great plan but I could see Gaudette on their wing with something like Jake-Bo-Miller on 2 and then Pearson-Sutter-Ferkland on 3 and a solid 4th line of Leivo-Beagle-Roussel -
On the chart for "top 20" players which they assume to be the team's main roster/lineup, it has Pittsburgh listed at 29.7. This is despite having the oldest player in the NHL in Matt Cullen (43.1)! In comparison, the Kings oldest player is Peter Budaj (37.2) Our oldest player is of course Loui Eriksson (34.4) Our forward group is an average of 26.4 years old whereas the league average is 27.7 - the defense is 27.6 years average whereas league average is 28.2. Overall the average age of the Canucks is 27.2 compared to the league average of 28.2 making us the fourth youngest team in the league behind Winnipeg (27.2), Columbus (27.1) and of course Colorado (27.0) So yeah. I'll stick with my original statement! Young team

Well yeah I'm kind of a math expert, my math teacher in high school was Scott Steiner -
Yes and no, it depends on your individual definition of "young" - but statistically we are below average age. https://www.rosterresource.com/nhl-roster-breakdowns/ Crazy to see, based on this chart, that the Kings are the only team with an average above 30 years of age. Really is a young man's league these days, eh!

Between a Rock and a Hard Place in a Relationship
BrockBoester replied to Dazzle's topic in Off-Topic General
Not sure of yours or her age, but you have to be patient and give people time to develop. Positive re-encouragement is key. When you guys had the "break up" - did you feel right about it? Or was there something "off" with her missing in your life? Honestly, you should always do what's best for yourself - if you are unhappy and don't see a remedy to this problem in the future, you have to just ask yourself if you're willing to accept her the way she is. And if you cannot, it's best to cut ties and move on. But I would lean towards being patient and giving her a chance to develop a more assertive personality. Trust me, there are worse things in relationships. Not to downplay your issue, but there are people with much bigger character flaws than the ones you've mentioned. And if you see her fall as you said - be there to pick her up. Best of luck whatever you decide. As with any big decision in life, it's best to "go with your gut". -
