  1. I question whether a second round pick is really worth making this move. Schenn wants to be here. He costs so little and can mentor incoming defencemen. If we move him now, just as his new baby is entering this world, he won't be wanting to rejoin this group in the fall. It'll be a burned bridge rather than a mentoring bridge and steady, hard-nosed defenseman for good value, all for what's likely to be a late second round pick that may never materialize into anything.
  2. Miller gave him a stern talking to, but I was hoping he would have done more than that.
  3. I’m at tonight’s game - woot woot! And I won’t mind for either a win or loss, so it’s a win-win. Keep an eye out for me. I’ll be the fan with the Petey jersey on. You know, because there aren’t many of those at Canucks games, right?
  4. I wondered about that too. But then why would a government allow another govt to spy on it over its airspace like that? I partly wonder if US govt just wasn’t properly monitoring for these things until now?
  5. This is exactly it. I’m more disappointed with the NHL and certain NHL teams than the players not wanting to participate. The NHL should have held the line on it rather than caving to the unpopular few who are anti-gay disguised as freedom fighters or religious.
  6. He has looked good the past couple of games, for sure. Hopefully that attracts some bidders.
  7. I had heard Petey’s family was coming to North America to catch a few of his games. You don’t think that these things were…. ?
  8. I’d disagree. He clearly wants out or his agent wouldn’t be doing our GM’s work right now trying to move him. Someone who wants out isn’t good to keep around. The locker room could get toxic fast.
  9. I'm of the mind that if management really wanted to keep Horvat at $8.5M, they would have found a way. I personally wouldn't feel good with him signed at that price and term with the Canucks. He's not worth it in my mind, and I think Canucks management thought the same. He has his strengths, but that would be an overspend.
  10. I’d be curious to know if you’d continue to have the same views on it all if one of your kids ended up confessing to you one day that they’re transsexual or gay?
  11. This is getting ugly.. so much for the NHL's support towards LGBTQ+... The Chicago Blackhawks Refused to Wear Pride Jerseys and Wore New Uniforms Representing ''Hockey is For Everyone'' https://www.hawksinsider.com/The-Chicago-Blackhawks-Refused-to-Wear-Pride-Jerseys-and-Wore-New-Uniforms-Representing-Hockey-is-For-Everyone-207857 Over the past month there's been plenty of debate and a little bit of controversy over the NHL "Hockey Is For Everyone" campaign when it comes to their "Pride Night's." It all started when Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Ivan Provorov refused to participate in the team's warm-ups due to refusing to wear the Flyers' Pride Night Jerseys. Then the New York Rangers and New York Islanders both decided as a team not to participate in the Pride night Jerseys. Well it looks like the Chicago Blackhawks have decided to make a change to their Pride Night. Instead of wearing any rainbow jerseys, The Chicago Blackhawks wore Black History Month warmup jerseys as part of Hockey is for Everyone.
  12. Not to mention we played the second game in 2 nights. Moving Horvat was the right thing to do. He wasn’t entertaining offers from us that were reasonable. He made up his mind to get out. He’s a solid player, but not $8.5M solid. If we can find a suitor for Boeser too, we’ll be on our way.
  13. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m hoping someone like Miller checks Horvat hard in an open ice hit… just to remind him that 6’0”+, 200 lbs+ leaders on teams are expected to do that once in awhile.
  14. The translation in that article cracked me up.. "Jake Virtanen had a verbal and muscular altercation with a teammate"
  15. I for one would never under any circumstances cheer for the Leafs. Regardless of that draft pick.
  16. Horvat has next to no character. He says all the right things when he’s being interviewed, but can anyone remember anything impressive that he said? When the Canucks’ make-up schedule was bonkers after half the team had CoViD, it was Miller calling out the NHL, protecting his teammates’ health in the process. Miller is far from perfect, but we could use more players with his conviction and passion.
  17. To me, Tryamkin seems like a loyal guy. He showed interest in the Canucks when he went back to Russia, through social media. He stayed loyal to his KHL team. Now, there’s more appeal than ever to rejoin the Canucks - Russian players, a Russian defensive coach, plenty of opportunity on our team. It feels like a good fit, despite so many butt hurt people here who took it personally when he decided to play on his homeland while still growing up and figuring his life out. I would not be surprised in the slightest to see him sign with us.
  18. Entertaining game, bad reffing. Same old. I must say I didn’t really miss Horvat at all.
  19. Bear and Hughes is such a bad defensive combo. No defensive minded player on it.
