Sorry if this isn't allowed, what's the advantage of selling on StubHub?

Surely McPhee will be looking to bring Gusev back from the KHL. Wow.

The Adidas reveal was lacklustre. All of the jerseys look the same.

The NBA playoffs are as entertaining as watching paint dry. At least there are more than two different colours of paint. Zzzz

Tough loss for the Preds, Penguins are an unstoppable powerhouse.
-
They're unstoppable because their plethora of talent allows them to come through even when being completely and utterly neutralized for 90% of a game.
The Capitals should have swept the Penguins with the way that series looked from a neutral fans perspective. But the Penguins have got the perfect mesh of skill and grit on every line.

Upper Deck really had to put out the ugliest Young Guns ever for Boeser...

What do Baertschi, Granlund, and Virtanen cost us to re-sign?
- Show previous comments 3 more

If Baertschi (35) and Grandlund (32) have repeat seasons point wise, based on league comparables (age, position, points, games)
Granlund 3 years @ $2-$2.5M AAV
Comparable: Hyman (4x2.25)
Baertschi 4 years @ $4.0M AAV
Comparable: Boedker (4x4)
Virtanen, at this point is impossible to predict. Maybe close to Josh Anderson or Andreas Athanasiou. Not really any players that have had the same first 3 years.

What gate will the Canucks bobbleheads be handed out at tonight?

What happened to the YouTube channel? It used to show Canucks full game highlights then became Canucks in 5 followed by Canucks in 2 and now it's completely gone?

What to do with Loui Eriksson?

I'm reminded of the following goodfellas movie scene whenever I think of Eriksson (whether he has a good or bad game):
Now the guy's got Paulie as a partner. Any problems, he goes to Paulie. Trouble with the bill? He can go to Paulie. Trouble with the cops, deliveries, Tommy, he can call Paulie. But now the guy's gotta come up with Paulie's money every week, no matter what. Business bad? "**** you, pay me." Oh, you had a fire? "**** you, pay me." Place got hit by lightning, huh? "**** you, pay me." Also, Paulie could do anything. Especially run up bills on the joint's credit. And why not? Nobody's gonna pay for it anyway. And as soon as the deliveries are made in the front door, you move the stuff out the back and sell it at a discount. You take a two hundred dollar case of booze and you sell it for a hundred. It doesn't matter. It's all profit. And then finally, when there's nothing left, when you can't borrow another buck from the bank or buy another case of booze, you bust the joint out
Eriksson had a great game? Loui says, I don't care, **** you pay me.
Eriksson had a bad game? Loui says, I don't care, **** you pay me.
Team is in a tight cap crunch? Loui says, I don't care, **** you pay me.

Why do USA suck at international hockey?

They ended in second place, one point behind Canada, in the qualifying round. They just happened to choke hard in their first elimination game. It also doesn't help that all of the vets keep saying "hell no" when asked to play. They end up getting stuck with the young guys. A player like Patrick Kane would come in handy.
-
It depends. None of the US veterans bother to show up for the World Championships like Sabrefan said. That's on Team USA.
In the past few Olympics though they haven't selected their best talent. It worked out for them in Vancouver but not so much this past Olympics.
Their thinking has always been that if they take some meat and potatoes players to go along with a few stars they can challenge Canada better than if they went with their best talent. Last time that strategy failed miserably. I think they would have a much better team next year though.

Why is Kunitz getting a pass for his dirty play tonight?

Wish the Canucks had more TV specials like the ones Stephen Brunt is doing for the Blue Jays.

Wonder what the Canucks would have to offer to get Tom Wilson from the Capitals.

First off, I strongly disagree with your view on Eller--in fact, I'd say he's become one of the best bargain deals in the league. He brings a lot at only $3.5Mper--a perfect veteran 3C who can move up to a 2C in an emergency and his offence is still getting incrementally better.
And if the Canucks (or anyone else) took on Orpik's salary, then they'd have the cap space to keep both Wilson and Carlson (re-signing Carlson from $4M to $7M would be and additional $3M, Wilson might warrant a raise from $1M or so).
If Wilson is to be traded, it will be for significant futures as I stated originally.
All that said, I think if we're patient with Virtanen, we'll have a player with similar attributes, minus the nasty Wilson brings.
-
@Undrafted What do you think the Caps would offer in a potential Orpik cap dump? Beck Malenstyn was a player the Canucks were looking at and hoping to pick if he reached the Jakub Stukel pick. Not sure the Capitals would give up a guy like that.

Honestly, I don't know much about the Caps farm or prospects, so I couldn't say--I just watch their games on a regular basis with my friends. I rely on them to pass on news about organizational stuff and that name hasn't come up at all.
If I were to wildly guess what their GM might do, it'd likely be trying to convince one or both of Carlson and Wilson to take a hometown discount. Carlson might bite if they give him the 8th year; Wilson might agree to a 1-yr deal with the assurance that he'd get paid the year after, once Orpik's deal is off the books. Both players seem to genuinely want to stay with the organization.
