Nuxfanabroad
Yeah, I would too. Gotta'feeling Philly would be after Edler if they could nab him. Edler + a fwd (maybe Raymond, or Higgins), & a 2nd. Van gets Luke Schenn + his bro, or Courturier.

ChuckNORRIS4Cup
Edler and AV for Chris Stewart Sedins now get their goal scoring power forward they have been looking for, since the Carter days.

wallstreetamigo
I can't believe people would want to trade Hamhuis or BK3 Hammer is so solid and you can't talk about Bieksa without mentioning the phrase "clutch goal scorer."
DIBdaQUIB
I'd want Zack Smith to be thrown into the deal, but not the main component coming back in a trade for Edler. Edler has 50pt potential and is capable of laying big hits. He's worth Michalek and Smith IMO
CanucksSayEh
Edler is sooooooooooo painful to watch. He thinks slower than he moves, and he moves like a Zamboni.
bossram
No. Who the hell's gonna play defense then? if we trade a top-four defenseman, we need one coming back from somewhere. Say we trade Edler, our long-term defense is: Hamhuis - Bieksa Garrison - Tanev Ballard - Alberts/Barker That;s ugly. Not going to win anything. Tanev isn't a true top-four player yet, and if we have even ONE injury its disaster.
NuxFan09
Absolutely I would. Defense is easier to play by committee than offense. Look at the Blue Jackets' group of defensemen. They're nothing special, yet they're playing really well as a group and keeping the goals against down, with the help of Bobrovsky in net of course. It also helps that the Canucks have a number of promising defense prospects that they can start to groom to fill roles on the blueline in the near future. On the other hand, the Canucks' most consistent problem over the last few years is not being able to score in crucial moments, even with a fully healthy group. This indicates that they could use another top 6 forward. The Canucks don't have much outside of Jensen and Gaunce to speak of in terms of scoring forward prospects either. No question I'd trade a top 4 defenseman for a top 6 forward.
Youth_Movement
we made it to game 7 in the finals with a broken blueline. and most games were won by 1 goal.... last time i checked the team with more goals scored wins. I would take a game changing top 6 forward for a edler any day of the week
lee goren rulez69
edler for bobby ryan anyone? anaheim has a crapload of winger prospects and they won't be able to re-sign Ryan once his contract is up after spending so much on perry and getzlaf
AllEyezOnMe
bieksa is well rounded player awhile is having an off season and he just came back from an injury twice. He can hit, fight, and score plus he's a faster skater then edler and comes handy in clutch moments. He deserves more then what people give him just look back to when bieksa and hamhuis used to be the top D line for us and how often we would play them. Buckeye Fruit
Doesn't change the fact he is still very valuable in trade. He has gotten better and is returning to form, he is still a 50 point defenseman who plays in all situations and has #1 upside. That is really valuable. Look what Erik Johnson and Brent Burns returned. And I would say Edler is better than both. Then you add into the fact he has an absolutely phenomenal contract, and his value only goes up. He could return alot, but at the same token he holds a NTC and is a key component of our club and our future. I wouldn't move him.
nucks_rule1
Eddy not going anywhere was just signed. Ballard probably will be moved but the return wont be to solid. I would be shocked to see GMMG trade any of the top 5 dmen, including Tanev, who may be our #1 at this time.
