When healthy is this Canucks roster better than the 2011 Stanley Cup Final team?

The Canucks are 2 pts back of the same pace they were on last yr through 38 games. Virtually same goals against, but down 30 goals scored. I went through the #'s, and the significant difference between this yr and last is Kesler, Booth, D. Sedin and Burr. They account for 27 fewer goals scored through 38 games played.

So, the Canucks have the weapons in the lineup (when healthy). Accounting for fewer goals scored this yr: D. Sedin is down 'significantly' in the goal dept, Burrs has a 5 goal drop off, and missing Kesler/Booth accounts for the lack of production this yr.

|would rate them about the same..Some issues have been addressed like physicallity ,and some more toughness.Other facets have gone downhill.. creativity on the PP,and a complete lack of consistency..!.

Even if we are a better squad than 2011,the competition has matched, and maybe exceeded this years team.

I gotta say I've been pretty cynical this whole season, but really looking at our team, there's a real potential for a Cup run this season, based on some BIG if's.

IF the Sedins can get it together

IF Kesler can be a productive two way forward and develop chemistry with Roy.

IF Schneider or Luongo can get rolling in net.

We know what this squad is capable of, we just got to put it all together. I already like this team better than last year's team. I think a real divisional race will be good for these guys down the stretch.

With exception of this time having better centermans then the 2011, the 2011 is a far powerful team then this one. sorry. However I will love to see these guys pull up some upsets. I think on a healthy roster we are no doubt in my mind, the class of our Division. I really wished MG would have went out and got us another top 4 dman, like a Vishnovsky or Streit. But we have to go with what we have. We never know what can happen. Kesler and Hank can have beast modes. also Schneider might have the ability to steal for us a series or 2, just like how Tim Thomas played in2011.

I think everything is better on paper except maybe for our D, Salo solidified our D whenever he was on the ice. I think Bieksa and Tanev are both pretty bruised up this season, having Salo back would have been amazing.

Did you guys see what Torres did in his first game with SJ? He got the second star, had 2 assists and lots of hits. MG is a real idiot for not bringing him back. Just watch Torres injure someone on our team in playoffs. MG will look so stupid.

Yes this team will be very interesting IF we can get, and stay healthy! Its the determining factor. We NEED Kes to regain form+ If booth can regain somewhat of his scoring self, that should throw us over the top.....We need the offence to gain the lead during the playoffs. I am glad we have both Luongo and cory together for this run... If we could win with both of them i would be so happy.

what has to be understood as well is that other teams in the west have improved relative to van.

Chicago is back in form and better than 2011.

LA better coached and better than 2011

Blues as well

Wild are better

Ducks are retooled as well

In the east you got a lethal pen's team. Bruins are experienced but no Thomas. Price for he Habs.

Vancouver is one of the teams for sure but the road is a lot harder than it was in 11.

Umm..is this the same "Erhoff" who was a -11 in the playoffs in the 2010/2011?

Or is this the same "Salo" that was a "powerplay specialist" with 5 points in 20 games in the playoffs.

Please CDC, get off the whole Erhoff and Salo were saviors of this team. Doesn't anyone realize that our PP, which was deadly in 2011, included Kesler. If you do a simple "google" of powerplay percentages you get the following link:

http://canucksarmy.c...vers-power-play

In short: Basically with Ryan Kesler on the shelf the Canucks are down their highest volume shooter with the man-advantage. That's tough enough, because you're ultimately going to have a less effective shooter replacing his shots, but it's also only half the story here.

How can we judge our powerplay when Ryan "powerplay" Kesler isn't even dressing? I refuse to put the blame on the d-men - you can't make an honest assessment of our PP until you have all your guys back.

Recall: the second PP unit (without Kesler) in 2011 was absolutely useless.

The run was "special" in that they made it as far as they did, it was by no means a display of talent and hard work and heart, except Kesler's legendary Nashville performance.

I'm not sure how you know what the team did or did not understand about their own ability, but the team seemed to absolutely crumble in the face of adversity, especially in round 1 and the finals. The trademark of this core group, really.

You have to remember that Malholtra and Samuelsson hardly played. Lapierre was our third line center in 2011. So with the addition of Roy our center depth is improved. Although with any team it is if we get hot.

forward depth better

defensive depth better

players having great years: worse

conclusion: potential is there on paper, so far we haven't seen it this year. Our main players are having poor years...

Defense was better in 2011 but I think this one is on its way. I'd say the forward group would be but if you apply the same logic and say manny didnt get hurt, that cup is ours and its no contest.

Healthy manny and we coulda swept the bruins. That was what killed us. He was the missing piece and we had finally built the perfect team. We spanked the entire league with him, it was a masterful signing by gillis that should have won us the cup. Puck to the face and it was all taken from us.
