We Are All Cynics
It was actually a tweet: Strombone @strombone1 21 Jun I'M WILLING TO STAY, BE THE BACK UP AND PLAY FOR FREE IF THEY LET ME SIT IN AT EVERY TORTS PRESSER! #MAN #MYTH #LEGEND
canucks_qc
There is a lot of miss information out there about what would happen if Lou were to hold out but the last I heard was that his cap would not apply to us because of his age. If he would retire its about $825k hit. In any event with the info I've seen they would have $$$$ to sign a goalie. Find info that states his cap hit would hold if he held out because I'm not sure what to believe at this point.

Mustapha
Luongo's Return?!? The guy never left... Although ironically, he might not return. How hilarious would that be for Mikey boy lmao.

kmotamed
I sure hope he will come back mentally strong, it's quite the unique/tough situation he's been in the last couple seasons!

Nino
You're right IF he retire, but do you really think he would retire at his age? No he won't, so by staying at home he will still count agaisnt the Canucks salary cap.
higgyfan
I think that if he doesn't show for the beginning of the season, he can be suspended. Much like Russian players that go off to the KHL while still under contract with an NHL team. I can't see his cap on the Van books if he won't show up to work. If he is suspended, the only way he can return to the NHL is through Vancouver. I would think that retirement is the same deal, as he was still signed with the Canucks. Perhaps there is a waiting period and then he can return. Tim Thomas' situation is different because he was over 35 when the contract was signed (much like Pronger). Can't see Lu giving up on hockey or that kind of $. I think he may be pushing for a buyout.

dirk diggler
Top ten picks are few and far between for the Canucks since Burke wangled the Sedins in '99. Coho and now Bo. Sadly, the highly talented Luc Bourdon is no longer with us.
enterin
I don't care who is leading our team onto the ice on October. But if it's Luongo, I will cheer just a little bit more. Imagine if he doesn't report to camp and walks away from his contract. Bo Horvat will really feel the pressure. Basically it will be 2 elite goalies for Bo Horvat. Regardless of what Luongo does. I will back his decision. He has earned my respect. I blame the finals loss all on our inability to score and AV's tactics.
Ray_Cathode
This is coming from a fan who appreciated everything Lou did/has done for this team, franchise, city, kids at canuck place on and on, but who actually wanted us to go with Cory. My view was if we traded Cory (given we have a terrific player in Lou) then we better get a ransom. We did not but what's done is done and we still have a goalie who is capable of wining a vezina and winning a cup. That being said, this city, many of the fans, the media, etc have put this man who has given his own time to go talk to dying kids (how many of you have done that in your life?) and his family through the UTMOST OF GARBAGE over the last 3 years of his life. If he comes back, which I think he will, I hope the following occur at home game 1 of the season, and if you're there I ask you as a fan, to show respect, to thank him, and to get behind him again. 1. I hope the nucks are smart enough, as they do with Rookies, as he leads them on to the ice, to stay back. They don't tell him, they just stop. Give him his ice. 2. Every single damn fan in that building gets their on their feet, and welcomes him home. That's they way fans should act. You'd be surprised how much that would mean to a player. especially one that wears his heart on his sleeve. Its funny, this man has given everything he has to this city, yet we just wanted to take more. Perhaps its time for us to give back to him, to lift him up. SergioMomesso
I am so glad he has earned your respect" How much money do you make and do you make it off the fans" I think not! He wanted to get bought out so he could make more money while the canucks pay him>> Anguiliny did the smart thing..I love the chance to make his wage just for one year I would be set.... Another thing where is his wife, kids if you find that you will find where his head is at... She is the problem I suspect and that s why canucks decided to go with Schnieds... I like Luongo but I think there is baggage he has to think like he is a rookie again..as his heads to big...
Batmania
Oh, Luongo is a fine man, the problem is, he is only an average goalie - which is why no-one was willing to take his contract.

canucks_qc
You missed the first part of my post completely? If he were to hold out and NOT play for us from what I have heard the cap hit would not count on the cap at all 0%!!!! Now I'm not sure this is true and I'm still looking for someone to post the rules that apply to Lou's situation (from what I understand if different then Tim's) but ill ask you again do you know for sure that your right and do you have a link? I'm not trying to sound like poetica I'd just like to know the rules that apply.
