Dion Phaneuf
what does one-way have to do with waivers ???
hockeyking
Nothing. I thought that he had played the mimimum amount of games to be eligible for waivers. I was wrong (read the thread).
Guest
I'd be really sad to see Schroeder not prove himself and get traded or leave. It would be great to see one of our first rounders stick with the club, especially after they've invested so much time developing him.
BananaMash
I just wonder where he'll fit in on the team in a year or two with.
Guest
I guess that depends on if he can switch to wing, or Kesler switches to wing and he plays in the top 6.
ice orca
Obviously he wanted to stay with the team that drafted him and is comfortable with the direction the club is going, nice to see a thread that has a positive instead of a hate. Good signing for a good young prospect.
BananaMash
With his skill set, it really seems like he needs to be in the top 6 to be effective. What you said about Kes taking the faceoffs and then moving to the wing sounds like it would work the best.
Henrik Kesler
Steal for the Canucks. I think he puts up 30+ points next year and gets paiddddd.
Rypien37
I think a major reason why he signed for so cheap is because it is a ONE WAY deal. Even if he gets sent down to Utica, he will still be making his 600K. All in all, happy with this signing.
a Fool
Wow great deal. Potential to be a deadly line with Kesler and Booth, or slot in as 3c.
mpt
Not sure that sounds right since it'd be below his qualifying offer. As for the tweet, you can just copy/paste from twitter, like this: Not unheard of to sign for below the QA (Mason did it in Philly earlier this year) but that's a steal if we did get him for that. Pretty clearly a chance to earn a bigger payday next year. I wonder if Gillis has had some success convincing guys like Schroeder and Lain to take a little less on short deals to help with the cap? It'd allow for us to get through this year and then give higher contracts if they earn it when the cap rises.

SamJamIam
Amazing deal. Smart move by Schroeder to invest a year into the team and his career instead of trying to get dough before he's earned it. Also glad to see people talking about a Booth-Kes-Schroeder line. Oldnews and I have been talking about how much sense that makes for months and finally it's catching on. RunningWild
Awesome stuff!! Not sure about the 1 way deal, but what a cap hit! That's cray cray Gilman magic stuff! And a 1 yr is a good idea IMO. Good stuff.

Carrots
Honestly doubt he'll amount to much, especially come playof time. still good deal fer us though.

Pears
I could see our top nine being something like this Sedin - Sedin - Kassian Booth/Burrows - Kesler - Schroeder Booth/Higgins - Gaunce - Hansen I think Schroeder would be really effective on the RW.
